InfraBasic To Bring Official America’s Army Game Host Services to Asia
Los Angeles, CA – May 07, 2004 – InfraBasic, a boutique cross-border technology marketing firm, announced today that it will establish the first official online hosting site in Asia for the world-renowned America’s Army PC game www.americasarmy.com.
InfraBasic plans to establish data centers and marketing organizations to offer hosting services, game support for online communities, and sponsored tournaments throughout the Asia Pacific region. So doing, InfraBasic will be the first firm to work with America’s Army’s new middleware codenamed Andromeda. By authenticating player data with Andromeda, InfraBasic will be able to establish “official” game instances for its customers so that game play on InfraBasic servers is conducted under the same rules found on U.S. Army servers. With this feature, InfraBasic’s customers will be able to gain standing and honor points necessary to advance in the America’s Army game. By combining proximity to America’s Army fans in Asia with high-speed telecommunications links, InfraBasic will bring the fast-paced and realistic gameplay of one of the world’s most popular games to the region’s avid game players. As a first step, IB Online, a subsidiary of InfraBasic, has been established in Seoul to market hosting services, sponsor tournaments, and grow the population of America’s Army enthusiasts. According to Bob Dillon, President, InfraBasic plans future hosting services for Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and China, and welcomes interest from gamers, online communities, PC cafes, marketing partners and investors.
“America’s Army has proven to be very popular with gamers in the United States and abroad. While players in America enjoy high quality game hosting on Army leased servers, InfraBasic, is responding to demand abroad by marketing its game services to the growing community of America’s Army gamers in Asia,” said Colonel Casey Wardynski, the project originator and Project Director of the America’s Army Game Project.
America’s Army blends role-playing game genres to create a virtual world within which players explore Soldiering in the U.S. Army. This experience begins by immersing players in progressive individual and collective training environments that highlight key events within Army initial entry training, advanced individual training and adventure training. Building upon attributes gained during these game experiences, players progressively expand their capabilities and standing within the game by adhering to the Army’s set of noble values while serving as a member of small units in multiplayer missions that model operational units of the U.S. Army.
At the upcoming E3 show (Booth 1080 in the South Hall) the Army will showcase new game features that are part of a series of highly-anticipated Special Forces games that include America’s Army: Special Forces (Overmatch) as well as the America’s Army: Special Forces (Qualification Course) game which extends gameplay from last fall’s release, America’s Army: Special Forces (Special Forces Assessment and Selection).
About the Game America’s Army was designed and developed to use online game technology as a virtual portal through which young Americans can explore Soldiering in the U.S. Army. In America’s Army players can explore and dominate challenges ranging from basic training to Special Forces Assessment and Selection to Special Forces Qualification Course. They can join various elite Army units and see the power of Army teamwork, values and technology. America’s Army is rated T for Teen and is available as a free CD at local Army Recruiting stations, ROTC Detachments and Army events, and can also be downloaded from various partners listed on the www.americasarmy.com site.
