Verizon Wireless
High-speed Network Enhances 3D Version of Game for Consumers
NEW YORK and BEDMINSTER, N.J. - April 26, 2005, - Tom Clancy's
Ghost Recon®: Jungle
StormTM, a tactical 3D
action game produced by Gameloft®,
a leading developer and publisher of video games for mobile phones, is available
exclusively for Verizon Wireless' new V CAST multimedia service. V CAST from
Verizon Wireless is the first true wireless broadband consumer service in the
country, allowing customers to view crystal clear graphics for 3D games and
video on demand because it runs on Verizon Wireless' Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO)
network - the only widely available wide-area wireless broadband network in the
United States. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm is available in its full
3D version with enhanced graphics and animation.
With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm, Verizon Wireless V CAST customers
become part of the Ghost team, an elite group of skilled Army Green Berets. The
player is sent to Havana, Cuba to fight terrorists and drug trafficking warlords
and try to maintain peace and free hostages after the death of Fidel Castro.
Skills are tested through four levels, each with varying degrees of difficulty.
With tactical action and First Person Shooting (FPS) capabilities, Ghost Recon
displays the technological prowess of Gameloft games.
The game contains large files that can only be adequately supported by the
capabilities of Verizon Wireless' 3G network. With V CAST, customers see
detailed graphics and exciting game play from an enhanced 3D perspective with
sharp graphics and sound.
"We offered Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm exclusively to Verizon
Wireless because the game simply performs best with Verizon Wireless' network,"
said Julien Fournials, Gameloft's Vice President of Production. "And V CAST is
so easy to use it allows customers to quickly download and fully-enjoy games
such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm. Verizon Wireless has always been
on the forefront of wireless technology and we are excited to offer one of the
first games for its flagship V CAST consumer multimedia service."
