ELECTRONIC ARTS ANNOUNCES SUB COMMAND FOR THE PC
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 11, 2001 - Run silent, run deep, through the oceans of the world in Sub Command from Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS). Developed by Sonalysts, makers of the award-winning 688(I) Hunter/Killer, Sub Command allows the player to control the world's deadliest submarines - the 688(I), Akula, and Seawolf attack class submarines. Sub Command utilizes an enhanced 3D engine, using over 250 3D objects, to deliver a realistic and immersive submarine simulation experience. Sub Command will be available for the PC in the summer of 2001.
Set during the present day, Sub Command gives players a chance to experience the tension and excitement of commanding an authentic nuclear powered submarine during times of war. With an easy to use interface, players can navigate and maneuver their submarines into position to unleash a multitude of weapons including wake homing, super-cavitating and ASW torpedoes. Additionally, players will have deadly Anti-ship and Land-attack missiles at their disposal to engage targets above water.
In Sub Command, players take the helm aboard three powerful and stealthy submarines, 688(I) Class, Akula Class, and Seawolf Class, each with its own unique capabilities, as you test your skills in a variety of covert missions including "Under Ice" and "Sub Rescue". Players can choose from three different campaigns and engage enemies from sixteen different countries as they compete for world dominance. Sub Command also allows players to compete with their friends in co-op and head-to-head multi-player modes over the Internet that include US vs. Russia missions and under-ice scenarios. Players will also take part in separate, dynamic campaigns for each submarine type that keeps track of their actions and alters future missions based on those actions. Enemies that were not eliminated in previous encounters may re-enter the fray. The successful completion of objectives may improve your position, but a failure may also bring about some additional enemy forces and defenses in the area.
