Exent Powers Launch of RCN InterACTION Games
BETHESDA, Md. -- Exent Technologies, Inc. and RCN Corporation (Nasdaq:RCNC) have launched a premium broadband offering, RCN interACTION Games, based on Exent's turnkey solution. RCN interACTION Games, the first fully integrated subscription gaming service, offers unlimited access to dozens of premium games that stream directly to customers' PCs over RCN's MegaBand(R) network.
The EXEtender(TM) Turnkey solution from Exent, which powers RCN interACTION Games http://www.rcninteraction.com , powers multiple tier-1 leading interactive entertainment services in North America, Europe and Asia.
"We're proud to be the first provider in the US to deliver this unique broadband service," said Rick Rioboli, vice president of product and marketing. "RCN will continue to provide the newest and most innovative broadband services for our customers combined with RCN's MegaModem Internet service - the fastest residential cable modem service."
RCN interACTION Games offers customers a destination to play a wide selection of popular PC games from leading publishers, in genres ranging from action and strategy to simulation and arcade. Users can make their selection by browsing game titles, or can learn more about games through screen shots, reviews, demos and more. Unlimited access to games such as Unreal(R) Tournament, Civilization(R) III Conquest, and RollerCoaster Tycoon(R) 2 will be available to any RCN High-Speed Internet customer who uses a Microsoft Windows operating system. Subscribers' monthly usage fees will be conveniently included on their cable television statement.
RCN interACTION is delivered using Exent's innovative, secure digital delivery technology, which enables delivery of an assortment of applications of all genres and sizes while ensuring the customer's ease of use. For example, prior to streaming a game or software application, the EXEtender(TM) technology checks system requirements against the customer's PC to verify the application's compatibility. This implementation of the EXEtender(TM) Turnkey solution also includes several service management components, including content licensing and encoding, subscriber management and portal management.
"Exent is pleased to work in partnership with RCN to achieve new standards in broadband entertainment," said Zvi Levgoren, Exent's CEO. "Our EXEtender Turnkey solution is all about up-selling RCN's customers to higher tiers of service; generating incremental revenues; and giving high-speed subscribers such a good time for their money that they won't even consider an alternative, thus reducing churn."
