DYNASTY WARRIORS(TM) 4 DEBUTS AS TOP-SELLING GAME IN JAPAN
Japanese Sales of the Acclaimed Tactical Action Game Exceed 720,000 Units in Only 4 Days
Burlingame, CA – March 7, 2003 – The Warriors conquered and a Dynasty was reborn when Dynasty Warriors 4, known as Shin Sangoku Musou 3 in Japan, claimed the top sales spot for all video game console titles last week. In only four days of release, Dynasty Warriors 4 sold 723,127 units as reported by Weekly Famitsu Magazine, the recognized authority and best-selling video game publication in Japan. Earlier this year, Weekly Famitsu bestowed its Platinum award upon Dynasty Warriors 4, when the magazine’s review team scored the Tactical Action game with 36 out of a possible 40 points.
Dynasty Warriors 4 trampled Enix’s Star Ocean 3, which landed the number two spot (386,348 units), while Sega’s Sakura Taisen (176,797 units) rounded out the top three. All three titles were released in Japan on February 27, 2003. The sales figures cover the period from 2/24/03 to 3/2/03.
Set amidst the treachery and romance of ancient China’s Three Kingdoms period, Dynasty Warriors 4 takes battlefield action to the next level. Gamers will experience the thrill of taking on multiple opponents at once and fighting against impossible odds. A host of new features add greater depth to the gameplay, as well as more insight into the characters and turbulent events of the era. The concepts of Honor and Loyalty in the face of adversity serve as the main theme for the game. The obligations of generals to their lords and allies guide the paths of the Dynasty Warriors as they fight to unify a divided empire.
Dynasty Warriors 4 ships to North American retailers on March 25, 2003 and has a suggested retail price of US$49.99. Available exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Dynasty Warriors 4 is rated
