Tenchu: Return From Darkness Releases New Character Art

Peer into the backgrounds of the central figures in this martial-arts Xbox title

At the core of any great game are the characters that intertwine their struggles with the storyline. The tale woven in Tenchu: Return from Darkness is no different. Evolving and involving, the game features a strong core of characters, each with attributes that contribute to the whole lush content of the game.

Tenshu: Return from Darkness is published by Activision and will be available March 9 on the Xbox console system.

The game's storyline revolves around the mysteriousl Tenrai, who has amassed an army of ninjas in his quest to conquer the country. Your master, Lord Gohda, has called upon you to stop Tenrai before all is lost.

GameZone has been granted new artwork of the principle characters in the game along with short biographical data on them.

Rikimaru – Leader of the Azuma Shinonbi-ryu ninja sect.  His thoroughness, patience and bravery have proven worthy of the Izayoi sword by the sect’s master Shiunsai.  Terrifyingly focused and withdrawn, his sense of destiny and of composure give him the strength to take on missions that most would consider similar to suicide.

Ayame – Bold yet quick, silent yet cunning, Ayame has been trained since childhood as a ninja.  Sharp with her tongue as with her sword, Ayame uses an acrobatic style of ninjitsu to overcome obstacles living or dead. 

Tesshu – Unlike Rikimaru and Ayame, Tesshu is not a trained ninja but rather a hired assassin who is a doctor by day. His existence is so secret that even Lord Gohda doesn’t know of Tesshu’s underground operations. His weapon of choice is a deadly spike.

New Xbox Characters

Mifuyu (which means "Three Winters") - The 20-year old daughter of the samurai Tadokoro and was trained by her father in the art of sword fighting and holds a high code of honor. Unbeknownst to her, her father was planning a rebellion against Lord Gohda. When she learned that her father was a threat to Lord Gohda, she became quite confused and killed her father in order to protect the family name. She is the boss character for the Samurai Mansion in the Rikimaru and Ayame storylines.

Yuge - A 26 year old samurai who helps samurai Tadokoro gather ronins to form a rebellion. Yuge appears in Tesshu's storyline as a boss character in the Samurai Mansion.
