WILL WRIGHT DAZZLES GAME STUDENTS, GAME PROS DURING PRESENTATION AT THE ART INSTITUTE OF CALIFORNIA - SAN FRANCISCO

Game Designer Kicks Off "Legends of the Game Industry" Speaker Series in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 26, 2004) - One of the game design world's legendary figures recently kicked off the new "Legends of the Game Industry" Speakers Series hosted by The Art Institute of California - San Francisco (www.aicasf.aii.edu). Will Wright, co-founder of Maxis and creator of The Sims, shared a unique multimedia presentation with a standing-room-only crowd of game students and local game industry professionals on Feb. 25. He covered a wide range of topics about his approach to designing games and creating compelling interactive environments. He also discussed his initial creation of SimCity and The Sims, talked about the future of the game industry, and answered questions from the enthusiastic crowd. Following his talk, he spoke one-on-one with students studying in the school's Game Art & Design and Visual & Game Programming degree programs.

"We were thrilled to have Will kick off this new series," said Marc Sherrod, academic director of the school's Game Art & Design program. "His impact on the game design world reaches far and wide, and millions of people have enjoyed his creations."

Students in the school's Game Art & Design and Visual & Game Programming degree programs helped host the event. These programs teach skills needed for entry-level positions within the burgeoning video game industry.
