NEW "767 PILOT IN COMMAND" FLIGHT SIM ADD-ON LANDS ON RETAIL SHELVES
Product Ships January 31 and Features Free Downloadable Manual for Added Flight Adventure
DROGENBOS, BELGIUM (January 24, 2001) -- If taking the controls of an airplane has ever been a fantasy, than the 767 Pilot in Command flight sim add-on for Microsoft's Flight Simulator is a must-have for hands-on flight realism. The Wilco Publishing CD program, which ships worldwide on January 31, 2001, includes step-by-step flight training and a series of heart-pounding, nerve-wracking lessons in commanding an aircraft and managing in-flight malfunctions and system failures. 767 Pilot in Command also features a new free 108-page downloadable manual detailing how to operate all the functions of the Flight Management Computer (FMC).
Written by an active 767 pilot, 767 Pilot in Command's online manual covering Panel Operations and Systems for the FMC, is so accurate and detailed that it could practically be used as a training handbook in flight schools. The online manual takes virtual flyers to a new level of flight interactivity, giving them the ability to custom program Standard Instrument Departures (SIDs), Standard Instrument Arrivals (STARs) and Approach procedures for any airport. In addition, the program provides the desktop pilot with the ability to import an FS2000 compatible flight plan created by a third-party flight planner directly into the FMC. Once the FMC has the information, it can take over many of the manual navigation tasks, including tying in the Advanced Lateral Navigation into the autopilot system; automatically managing altitudes along the flight route with minimal inputs; and providing all waypoints associated with the requested route.
From learning how to handle emergencies ranging from tire blowouts, locked gears to electrical failure, cabin depressurization and engine trouble, 767 Pilot in Command provides all the sophisticated tools desktop pilots need to simulate a truly exciting flying experience. All of the program's elements are designed to mirror real-life, so virtual flyers are trained to use the same checklists aviators use to define and solve specific kinds of failures. Once short flight checklists have been mastered, virtual flyers can progress to Prof Checks the same ones real-life pilots must master to secure their licenses. These random failure adventures can pop up at any time, requiring skill and presence of mind to solve the problem and land safely.
The 767 Pilot in Command retails for $39 (MSRP) and is available as a packaged product only. The CD includes the Panel Operations and Systems Manual, a separate handbook for the Flight Management System and the all-important emergency checklists cataloging standard procedures for use during different kinds of failures. Minimum system requirements include a Pentium 300 MHz and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000.
