Try The Notum Wars For Free

Funcom's recently released "booster pack" is added to Anarchy Online's free trial

Oslo, Norway, January 22, 2003  As the first company to offer a free trial for a massively multiplayer online game, Funcom is pleased to announce that its recently released booster pack, The Notum Wars, will be added today to the free trial of Anarchy Online at http://www.anarchy-online.com/tryout/

Players who already have Anarchy Online can purchase an upgrade by downloading The Notum Wars features for $19.95.

"The free trial of Anarchy Online has been one of our most successful marketing programs," Funcom President & CEO Trond Arne Aas said. "We are very pleased to now include The Notum Wars as part of that offer so potential players can get a feel for all of the exciting features available with Anarchy Online."

Through the free trial offer, gamers can play both Anarchy Online and The Notum Wars with no charge for 7 days. At the end of the trial period, the player can then keep the game and the account with a purchase price of $19.95 for the game. The remainder of the first 30-day period will be available for play before the first subscription fee is charged. Players can access the features of both Anarchy Online and The Notum Wars for a recurring subscription fee of $12.95 every 30 days.

Funcom's award winning massively multiplayer online game, Anarchy Online, gained a whole new type of gameplay with group-based combat in the company's first booster pack The Notum Wars. As the first product of its kind for online games, The Notum Wars booster pack features were enabled for play on November 28th, 2002.

The main feature of The Notum Wars is land control. Only player created groups, known as "organizations", can lay claim to areas that give gameplay bonuses and both personal and group-wide advantages. However, these bonuses are only available as long as the group continues to control their area.

Specific areas in the existing Anarchy Online world have been opened up for this land control option with sections divided into level ranges. Areas are available for all players to enjoy, regardless of their character's level range. With limited land control spaces, competition has already been fierce and enemy organizations are an exciting threat to those who own the land.
