911 Paramedic Review

If you have wondered what it would be like to be a paramedic, with this game you will experience the triumphs and tragedies in treating patients on the scene with 34 real-life emergency cases. Your job is to keep seriously ill patients alive to get them to the ER.

The likable and sometimes humorous Paramedic staff includes:
Chief Commander Clean, the no-nonsense supervisor of Legacy Emergency Services.
Lance Book, one of the last standing 20 year Paramedic vets.
Dannie Eastmen, the straight shooter Paramedic.
And Maddog, the Paramedic that gets in there and gets the job done.

While at headquarters, you get a call to go. The ambulance takes you to your patient as the dispatcher gives you some basic info about them.
The PDA is your interface that appears on the screen that is where you get information about your case.  The EKG that also appears on the screen will show your patients health status.  When your doing the correct procedures the score goes up, with incorrect or unnecessary ones it goes down. You're awarded efficiency points for treating the patient quickly.  A completion bell rings once you've completed all the necessary procedures.  Complete the necessary paperwork on your pda and sign out.  The patients total health score will be displayed.

Graphically awesome with real life videos. The patients looked so real and as a person who tends to gross out easily, I had to actually shut my eyes through a few procedures, like the large and bleeding open wounds.  I would not suggest this game to anyone who gets queasy easily.

I had no problems with the controls, just click onto the specific tool you have decided to use on your patient and drag it to the correct body part. The name of the body part will appear as you drag it over the patients body.

Some of the tools you can use include an oxygen mask, suction, airways, endotracheal tube, glove, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, ekg monitor, iv, and bandages.

Your patients are an interesting bunch, some of them include Dereck Taylor whom you will treat twice, he's a diabetic and alcoholic. Ivan Meredez who's a gang banger with multiple stab wounds. Amanda with multiple bruises who was involved in a violent confrontation with her boyfriend. And Andrew Seely who has some serious hand trauma from where a pipe bomb accidentally detonated.

The game has a link to a web-site where you can join in discussions about the game. From what I read it sounds like real life Paramedics are enjoying the accuracy of this game.

You can choose your level of difficulty. However, If you're not familiar with medical procedures, I would suggest you start out at easy for beginners. In normal you can ask for two hints per case without losing points and the results of all procedures are interpreted for you, and an expert level is just that, for the experts.

At the end of each case you can have your performance reviewed by Commander Clean.  Total possible points for each case is 500. Unnecessary procedures will cost you points.  The amount of points you earn for each case will determine if you have succeeded or failed in providing the right medical care.  You begin as an emergency medical technician basic and can move up to EMT Paramedic.  Commander Clean will promote you if you perform well.  You must successfully complete all 34 cases to win the game.
