Review

The first expansion, Corkscrew Follies, was chalk-full of new rides; the second expansion, Loopy Landscapes (LL), is geared toward themes, giving the architect the ability to make theme parks or multiple types of parks. There are six new themes, including an animated theme. Along with the themes and the new rides, there is even a shirt stall. Your quests can buy a T-shirt that you choose the color of, as well. Great for all those tourist families that like to wear the same shirt!

You say that you never bought the first expansion? That's OK.  With Loopy Landscapes you also get Corkscrew Follies as a bonus! Some of the new things you will find in Loopy Landscapes are:
THEMES: Snow and Ice, Space, Urban, Pagoda, Medieval, and the animated one, Creepy.
THRILL RIDES: Enterprise
WATER RIDES: Jet Skis, Raft Ride, and Water Coaster
ROLLERCOASTERS: Suspended Looping, Hyper-Coaster, Air-Powered Vertical Coaster, and Inverted Wild Mouse
SHOPS and STALLS: Coffee Shop, Donut Shop, T-Shirt Stall, Lemonade Stand, and Fried Chicken Stall.

There are six themes in the game, and each one is done in great detail. Some themes are huge, like the medieval theme, where you can have archery ranges, and massive castles in two different colors, as well as knights running around terrifying the guests. Soooo Cool. Pagoda gives a more relaxed feel, with calm ponds loaded with lily pads floating around (more like an oriental theme, if you will). The Snow and Ice theme has a variety of trees, snowflakes, and colors; and the new Space theme has crashed space shuttles littered throughout the park. You can even combine themes to make your own unique park.

There are 30 new scenarios in LL. You will not just build rides and try to keep attendance numbers up, or try to make as much cash as you can -- there are different goals in mind. For example, one scenario gives you the chance to complete an existing coaster while ignoring financial and attendance goals. Another Scenario has you trying to keep park-goers happy without the use of thrill rides. As you would expect, that's a challenge in itself!

The emphasis on the new themes is what makes this expansion rock! New items, different paths, and new entertainers give the gamer hours of enjoyment of new gaming material. Though the graphics and sound have not changed much from the original, the new themes make up for the difference. The best part about LL is that Corkscrew Follies (CF) is packed in as well; so if you haven't purchased the first expansion, you are getting both in this title. If you have already purchased CF, LL is still worth buying. My only complaint is that you still cannot ride the creations you make. What a bummer!

Installation: Easy. A breeze to install.

Gameplay: 8 Loaded with plenty of hours of entertainment. RTC players will find the same friendly interface to navigate through.

Graphics: 8 Loopy Landscapes looks the same as the other two. High detail makes this title great.

Sound: 9 Same as the original, all the sounds from an amusement park, but still awesome.

Difficulty: 8 The scenarios can be quite challenging.

Concept: 8 A great construction sim. Not too many out there, which makes this a must have.

Overall: 8.5 This title will keep the amusement park enthusiast busy over the cold winter months till the parks open again in the spring!
