Zillions of Games Review

Do you play solitaire for windows? Do you like Checkers or Chess? Then you will love Zillions of Games by Zillions Development. Windows card games are a great computer pastime. Although there aren't zillions of games, every game you can think of and ones you have never heard of are included on the CD.

The installation is simple and easy. You may either run it from the CD or install it to the hard drive. I would recommend installing it to the hard drive since it seemed to jerk a lot running from the CD. The typical install is only around 16 Meg of space. It doesn't take long once you put the CD in that you are playing some very cool games.

The interface has 48 different games that you can play; each game, however, has numerous variations of the game. A few of the 48 game types are chess, checkers, solitaire, number puzzles, and dodgem. On the main interface you can select a skill level of Introductory, Skilled, Pro, or All games. Selecting a certain skill level only allows certain games to be played. This is a cool feature if you want younger kids to play and not bother playing the more advanced games. You also have the option at any time to join a net game with other Zillions of Games players, or host a game yourself.

Once you have selected the game of your choice; you have many options to choose from. You can change view and music settings among other user preferences. There is also a variant menu that allows you to change the way the game is played. There are also options to save your game for a later time, or print a list of moves taken by you and the computer. There are many game options for each game, allowing for a great amount of player preferences and game play settings.

Although this game is simple and pleasant to play, there were a few annoyances. One extreme annoyance was the midi music that played. It wasn't long before I found the options to turn off the music. Another annoyance was a random bug that crashed the game every so often and I couldn't track it down. All games that are included with Zillions of Games were a winner/loser type of game. It would have been nice to have some playable games that took score and allowed you keep track of them for later games.

Even with its minor annoyances, this game isn't a bad game to pass the time away. If you love to play those windows games, then Zillions of Games is windows games at its best.

GAMEPLAY: 6, Simple games with lots of variations.

GRAPHICS: 4, Standard windows game graphics.

SOUND: 2, I am so thankful there was an option to turn it off.

DIFFICULTY: 7, Difficulty can be changed in the menu, and was very accurate.

CONCEPT: 6, The same games have been done separately many times, but they put them all in one game.

OVERALL: 5.5, Even though the game was nice to play, I can download freeware games that do basically the same thing.
