Battle Isle: The Andosia War Review
Battle Isle The Andosia War is the fifth in a series of war games and in my opinion one of the best so far. It begins on the planet Chromos in the year 345. Your survival is in serious jeopardy as a new enemy has come into play and wants full and total rule and is willing to get it at any costs. The question is how far are you willing to go to keep it.
Now I have to say that this game has some killer 3D effects and they are not just their to pretty up the game but are vital to the play of the game itself. Each mission you are given comes with some of the best special effects I have ever seen in a game and the realism is a have to see to believe. From explosions to backfire from your vehicle each effect brings this game to a new level of game playing. Even the roads you create have that feel of having traveled them yourselves one time or another. Make sure you make good use of your mouse when it comes to the option of changing angles of view. This game is a true strategy game and using various views to complete a mission can mean the difference between failure and success. It also gives you a total picture of where you stand and where you need to go.
There are so many things I like about this game it is hard to focus on just one but there is one that I have to point out. The game is a race against the clock game and this gives the game a real feel of war where there is not always a lot of time to make a good strategically thought out decisions and the one you make better be a good one. This make the game a high paced game on all levels and gives you excellent challenge which is exactly what you look for in any war type game. The darkening of the sky as night approaches or the bright blue skies of an otherwise normal day makes you feel as if you have actually experienced 24 hours instead of just a few. I have not before this game seen one where the day and night are consistent with real life and was awestruck when I first experienced it. This whole game brings some moments of real sweat and if you only buy one war game this year, make sure this is the one.
Install:
Easy
Installation of one CD
Gameplay:
9.5
This has to be
the most realistic war game on the market today or5 for any other time for that
matter. You never experience a minute of let up and know that every minute
counts in the ultimate success of the mission you are on. The game calls for
some well thought out strategy on your part and you find yourself on the edge of
your seat at every juncture Strategy and skill is the key here and fast thinking
will save the day.
Graphics:
10.0
The graphics are
10+ in this game. The 3D is vital in the game and not just backdrop. This being
the case the graphics need to be above the best and the game delivers at every
turn. The gritty feel brings the real taste of war to your PC. The day changing
to night and vice versa is something you have to see to appreciate. This gives
you the feel of real time playing.
Sound:
10.0
Never
before have I heard such realistic war sounds as well as sounds of simple things
of an gunned engine to background of ground fire. A war game calls for some loud
explosions and this one gives you effects that make you believe you are there. I
like the way that the entire game takes great pains to magnify all sounds
instead of just the typical ones you find in most war games.
Difficulty:
9.5
Gameplay on all
levels is good and consistent. The game never stops calling for well thought out
strategy thinking on your part, which keeps it on an even keel throughout the
total game. Great graphics and options give you are real handle on completing
each mission. Fast thinking is the key and gauging your enemies’ reaction will
help you accomplish your goal.
Concept:
9.5
The concept may
not be new, but once you see this game you will believe that is the new wave os
war games coming on the market. The graphics, sound, difficulty and use of 3D
gives this game a fresh feel to this genre of games. This is the result of what
software companies can do when they pull out all the stops when designing a game
and use all the newest of technology available to them.
Multiplayer:
9.5
Although
one on one with the game is a total satisfying experience, playing online gives
it an even extra challenge which just makes this game even better if that is
possible. You have to try it at least once to see the difference although I
believe that you will have some serious gaming fun no matter which way you
decide to go.
Overall:
10.0
This
is the kind of game which all of us who love game playing hope for in a game and
when we do we know we have found a winner. It is so evenly balanced on all
levels that you feel as if you glide easily from one operation to the next
without any interruption. This is a definite have to own.
