Most Innovative Game of the Year 2007 is ...

Rock Band

GameZone's Review

Michael Lafferty: There have been games that have focused on the voice, on the guitar and on drums, but not a title that translated the guitar experience to the drums and then packaged all three segments together in a robust package that keyed on a group dynamic. Rock Band makes multiplayer gaming not only necessary but highly entertaining.

Natalie Romano: The concept is so simple you’ll be wondering why they didn’t think of this sooner. Rock Band is indeed an innovative title but it’s also one of the most entertaining games you will be happy to rock to in your own living room.

Nick Valentino: Titles like Rock Band don’t come very often, which is too bad since this innovative title is not only a brilliant idea, but also a fun game to play. Long live rock and roll.

Michael Knutson: Most people would say that this game is expensive, but the price is a small thing to pay since you get one of the most complete games released in years. Where else can you find a game that includes three instruments (mic, guitar, and drums) and a complete single player mode for each of one? If you are an aspiring musician, or love to play games with friends, then this is the game for you.

Stephen Woodward: Rock Band is taking music games to a vastly higher plane; just call it the Stairway to Gaming Heaven.

Eduardo Zacarias: Ok, you know you’ve always wanted to be in a band with your friends playing awesome rock tunes. Rock Band allows you to do just that with the ability to bring your guitar hero dreams, drumming fantasies or bass-strumming desires to life on a next-generation console.

Angelina Sandoval: This game is for anyone who has ever fantasized about being part of a rock band whether you’re the lead singer or the guitarist. Yes, Guitar Hero does this genre justice, but wouldn’t you rather put together your own complete band? Rock Band does all of this and does it great.

Steven Hopper: While most of what it offers has been done in previous rhythm games, Rock Band is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Putting together all of the elements of a rock band and allowing a whole group to play together in unison makes Rock Band a wholly unique experience and some of the most fun you're likely to have for a while.

Mike David: When Guitar Hero first came out and the guitar controller came with it, I thought this was the coolest thing I had seen in a long time. Well, consider me floored, because any game that comes with a drum kit, guitar controller and microphone, boasting a price tag of $169.99 and still sells out everywhere, is something special. And that price tag comment isn't a negative, it's more than a fair price for what you get with this setup. And the way it all comes together, pure gaming bliss; our household band has the a lot of fun with this highly innovative use of gaming peripherals. Even if you can't carry a tune, Rock Band succeeds in doing what so many other games fail to do, creating an enjoyable game experience and easily being the greatest party game ever.
