Game of the Year 2007 is

BioShock

GameZone's Review

Steven Hopper: After years of anticipation, Irrational's long-awaited BioShock finally launched and lived up to the hype. The game presented a gorgeous and robust world, engaging gameplay, and a fantastic sense of atmosphere, making it one of the best shooters you can get, period. The game successfully blurs the line between art and video games, creating as compelling of a world as you'll find in any book or movie. The level of suspense and terror is also quite high, making BioShock an intense game from start to finish. All in all, BioShock is one of the most immersive games to hit in several years, and far and away the best game you'll find this year.

Eduardo Zacarias: A plane crash, an underwater city and a number of infected freaks make up what will surely be remembered as a true gaming classic. Yes, it’s a first-person shooter but it strays far from the conventional FPS trappings. This is an original and stylish game that deserves top spot this year.

Aceinet: BioShock simply sucks you in by giving you an FPS experience unlike any other. The atmosphere and look of the game will remind you of a Sci-Fi movie from the late 50's and early 60's. The game lets you customize your character with a ton of enhancements, such as telekinesis and others, that keeps the game from becoming just another shooter. BioShock is deserving of Game of the Year not only for being an amazing game but for not being a sequel. Finding an original game in the vast sea of sequels isn't easy but BioShock rises to the top.

Michael Knutson: It is no surprise that BioShock won the Game of the Year award. This game is one of the most compelling and creepiest games I have played. The game will suck you in the minute your plane crashes in the middle of the ocean and will not let you go until you solve what has happened to this dilapidated “utopia” that Andrew Ryan has built. The enemies in this game will freak you out as they jump out at you from all angles, and to make the game even more surreal, I dare you to play it at night with the sound turned up.

Nick Valentino: One of the most unforgettable and deeply involving first-person shooters, BioShock is just one of those games that play with your nerves and rattle your senses. It’s a gorgeous-looking game that does just about everything right. This one truly deserves your money and attention.

Angelina Sandoval: In a genre filled with lackluster shooters that seem to recycle the familiar point-and-shoot formula, BioShock joins the ranks of those FPS gems that implant you into a situation that will make you forget about your physical surroundings. This game puts you in the moment and will hold you there until the final battle. In other words, this is not only a perfect shooter but also a perfect game.
