GameZone 2007 Game of the Year Awards
Nintendo DS Finalists

All things considered, the most successful console around is an intriguing handheld from Nintendo. The DS proved yet again that gamers are looking for something a little different than your standard run-of-the-mill gameplay, and had yet another banner year on the games front.

Nintendo DS Game Of The Year 2007 Finalists

Contra 4

GameZone's Review

Contra 4 presents some of the best, most hardcore run-and-gun shooting action on the DS, and is a breath of fresh, alien-blood-scented air for the system, and gaming in general.

DK Jungle Climber

GameZone's Review

The DS hasn’t had an action/adventure game this good since Mario. Top-notch controls that are unlike any other action/adventure you’ve ever played. The levels and interactive objects are simply amazing.

FINAL FANTASY XII REVENANT WINGS

GameZone's Review

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings brings the series to new heights by offering up some interesting RTS-style gameplay. The control scheme uses the stylus almost exclusively, but selecting your troops feels somewhat clumsy. Still, the game is very deep and quite complex, and will have you playing for many hours.

Hotel Dusk: Room 215

GameZone's Review

For fans of the genre, it doesn’t get much better than Hotel Dusk. Even if you’ve never played an adventure game before, it’s worth playing. It has everything you could hope for: amazing graphics, interesting puzzles, and one of the best storylines ever told in a videogame.

Pokémon Pearl

GameZone's Review

Pokemon is not a big departure from earlier games. This should please long-time fans who may be worried about the possibility of innovation. I am all for innovation and would like to see the Pokemon franchise take a few steps towards throwing in brand spanking new ideas. If you already are a fan of Pokemon and like your Pokemon one particular way, Pokemon Pearl offers leaps and bounds of replay value.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

GameZone's Review

It might be cliche to say that a Zelda game is a work of art. Even so, how can Phantom Hourglass be denied of that praise? Inside and out, the game is the very definition of handheld beauty. I’m not just referring to the graphics. The gameplay is gorgeous. It's seeping with stellar combat and ingenious puzzles. Long-time fans will be stunned by how well Shigeru Miyamoto’s masterpiece has been converted into a touch-only adventure.

And the Nintendo DS Winner is...
