FINAL FANTASY TACTICS: The War of the Lions

GameZone's Review

Angelina Sandoval: Final Fantasy fans and those who love the strategy gaming genre will find The War of the Lions one of the most challenging and beautifully executed games you do not want to miss.

Nick Valentino: Those who remember FF Tactics on the original PlayStation will simply love this strategy/role-playing game that will have you hooked from the very beginning.

Natalie Romano: Very few strategy games put you in the situation as well as this Final Fantasy Tactics game. Rich in all the things we love about the genre and the Final Fantasy franchise, this is one enjoyable experience.

Louis Bedigian: A tactical challenge of larger-than-life proportions, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is an upgraded port of the PSone’s most popular strategy/RPG. The insanely difficult, insatiably deep combat system is like a thorn in the player’s side – a thorn that emits pleasure while inflicting pain. Call it an unhealthy addiction if you must, because you’ll die and die and still want to return. FFT’s story, originally scripted by Square’s finest writers, holds up well in today’s modern, voice-over-infused world. The characters are just as likable as before, and the story is just as entertaining to read. Like a good book, you won’t want to put this one down. But remember: when you enter a battlefield, this book fights back.

Brandon Folkers: The Strategy genre is a tough genre to get right. Few companies can take the concept, mould it to their liking, and implement it flawlessly. Square-Enix has proven that they can not only mould the strategy clay to be beautiful, but they can also create masterpieces. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions is driven by a riveting story with memorable characters and an epic gameplay experience on a small screen.

Dylan Platt: What do you get when you take arguably the greatest tactical RPG of all time, re-do the translation so the storyline is actually understandable, add new character classes and a 16x9 widescreen display, then make the whole thing portable? First off, you get my unending gratitude, but you also get War of the Lions, the PSP's version of the original Final Fantasy Tactics. There's a good reason the game is still considered the top of its genre, these ten years later: it's just that good.

GrimGrimoire is a new breed of real-time strategy. It’s a gripping RTS that hangs on the essence of what we know and love about traditional strategy games while delivering the experience in an unexpected way.
