Best Sports Game of the Year 2007 is ...

NHL 08

GameZone's Review

Eduardo Zacarias: This is, by far, the best edition yet in the NHL franchise. It not only plays like a dream come true but it also looks like a million bucks on any platform. This is for the true hockey fan.

Angelina Sandoval: Hockey fans, NHL 08 is one of this year’s best hockey games but also a solid sports title that just seems to do everything right this year. We have played good NHL games before but this one is at the top of the list.

Michael Lafferty: Not only are the animations first rate, but NHL 08 upped the ante by expanding the gaming experience with diverse gameplay. Sure you can play the game in much the same manner as in year’s past, but slip into the goalie’s pads and the game takes on a whole new look. NHL 08 is a terrific next-gen sports title that is a delight to play.

Nick Valentino: The NHL series seems to be improving with each year but this year the franchise has hit gold with this amazing NHL hockey game.

Natalie Romano: EA Sports hits the mark this year with a game that brings the franchise back to its former glory days when virtual hockey games were actually fun. I can’t stress how much this year’s edition is near flawless and the perfect gift to give any sports fan.

Louis Bedigian: EA has been pushing the right analog stick’s functionality for several years now. They use it for added precision in Tiger Woods, for “style” and performance-based moves in other games, and for accurate stick and puck maneuvers in NHL 08. You can’t say the controls are “top-notch” because that would imply that the competition offers something comparable. They don’t. EA holds the monopoly in hockey controls. This addition doesn’t just make the game more realistic – it also improves the entertainment value, which is surprisingly high for a title that receives annual updates. If the series continues down this path, it won’t be long before it tops Madden in overall polish, quality, and noteworthy improvements.

FIFA 08 is a solid, entertaining and challenging title. The presentation is first rate, the football is well realized and the look and feel of the game is emblematic of the sport.
