Best Platformer Game of the Year 2007 is ...

Super Mario Galaxy

GameZone's Review

Louis Bedigian: The Mario game no one could have imagined. Super Mario Galaxy takes the undying gameplay of the series, the unfathomably cool characters, and the unparalleled controls, mechanics and world designs and takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The result is a game that borders on perfection – a platformer so incredible that you will literally gasp at the worlds these developers have created. There are many amazing camera tricks and an impeccable implementation of gravity-influenced platforms that send Mario all over the screen. Walk on walls and ceilings, circle large spherical environments, and go where no plumber has gone before.

Angelina Sandoval: If you’re looking for a great platform game, you don’t have to look very far. Super Mario Galaxy is one of those great platform games but then again anyone who had picked up a Super Mario game already knows how good this is and on the Wii it just means it’s ten times better.

Aceinet: Super Mario Galaxy almost rewrites the platforming experience by throwing out the rules you've played in other games. You have to rethink what is up, down, left and right since Mario is now exploring outerspace. Several new powerups and features not found in any other Mario game help make Super Mario Galaxy stand out from the rest of the crowd. The controls are incredibly tight and responsive which proves that the Wii Remote controls are more than just a gimmick.

Eduardo Zacarias: Fans of everyone’s favorite Italian plumber will simply adore Super Mario Galaxy. It’s one of those games that will have you playing for hours without wanting to put down the Wii Remote.

Michael Knutson: Each time Nintendo releases a new Mario game they evolve the platforming genre, and this time is no different. Not since the release of Super Mario 64 has the platforming genre been “shaken” like it is now. Super Mario Galaxy is a great game and the new gravity gameplay mechanics fit really nicely within the Mario Franchise. I can only look forward to the next Mario game to see what new boundaries they will cross.
