Louis Bedigian: When first announced, this creative and game-changing extreme sports title sounded like it would be another Tony Hawk clone. At first glance, it
appears to be just that. And if solely judged on gameplay videos, players may still be convinced that it is the Pro Skater’s little brother. But that couldn’t have been
further from the truth. skate moves away from the familiar extreme sports control scheme, opting a scheme that utilizes the analog stick in new and thoughtful ways. The
finished product wasn’t just a massive undertaking for the developers, who must have been driven nuts while trying to perfect the controls, but also a massive undertaking
for any player who wishes to master them. This is not a game you’ll blow through in a weekend. In fact, it could take you an entire weekend before the controls’ numerous
intricacies begin to make sense.
Natalie Romano: It’s not easy to enter a market that has been dominated by Activision’s Hawk franchise but EA managed to do it with this highly-addictive skating
game that not only looks good but plays good as well. If you want arcade-like controls you’re better off with Tony but if you want to kick flip like the real pros, skate has the goods.
Eduardo Zacarias: EA’s first attempt into the skating genre is certainly an impressive one and with solid controls, challenging gameplay and realistic trick
mechanics we are given a game that outshines a certain somebody’s arcade-style gameplay.
Nick Valentino: You just have to love the realistic and addictive nature of this skating game that certainly gives Tony Hawk a run for his money. This is skating at it’s finest.
Angelina Sandoval: When it comes to extreme sports and skating, Tony Hawk was king of the half pipe but this time it has new competition with skate, a game that’s
not only realistic but also fun to play. EA, take a bow, you did a great job.
