Lord of the Rings Gets Motion Control

Lord of the Rings games. That can mean only one thing: Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest is on its way. This new game set in Middle Earth is coming to Wii, DS, PSP, PS3, and PS2 (wait, what?). The Wii game will prominently feature waggle controls and headstrong games, the studio behind the Wii version, has released a new trailer. The game is a hack-n-slash game that plays a lot like the new Zelda: Skyward Sword. The Wiimote is Aragorn’s sword and the nunchuck is his shield. The art design sticks closely to the film, but takes some liberty to deal with the Wiis limited graphical prowess. Read More

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Hits 1 Million...But Can It Go Beyond?

To the shock of absolutely nobody, a Wii game published by Nintendo has hit 1 million in sales. The more refreshing part of this is that the game to hit the milestone is Super Mario Galaxy 2 which, apart from being really, REALLY good, has been primarily marketed to the hardcore Nintendo fan. Then again, this isn't Nintendo's true test. That will be if Mario's latest space-faring adventure can reach even greater heights. Read More

Nintendo Announces Nationwide Gaming Contest

Contrary to popular belief, summer is not a time to go outside, visit the pool or hang out with friends, but rather the season when you lock yourself in your room frantically trying to improve your Wii Sports Resort bowling score or nail a tricky jumping section in New Super Mario Bros Wii; at least, that's what Nintendo thinks summer is about. The company has announced a nationwide summer gaming tournament where winners will receive cash, prizes and eternal fame for proving their gaming prowess. Learn more after the break. Read More

In an analyst Q&A session during E3, Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America CEO said that Adult gamers play on their Wii's much more frequently than they play Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. Fils-Aime produced a survey from the independent market research firm Ipsos that asked players over 18 years old how often they played their home console for more than an hour or two per week. Nintendo's Conference Even Won Over Blezinski

Gears of War series director Cliff Blezinski revaled today that he gave Nintendo his "vote" for best press conference of E3 2010. The perception seems to be that Nintendo has turned back towards their core fans, but is that the whole of it? "I think Nintendo's back," Blezinski said at the end of an interview with VideoGamer.com. Gamers often joke about how dusty their Wiis have been throughout this console generation, and many of the same people now talk of dusting off their Wiis after Nintendo's conference this year. "That's good to see, because I dusted off my Wii for Mario Galaxy 2," said Blezinski. "I'm hoping to keep the dust off of it." Read More

E3 2010: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Revealed

Zelda has been revealed at Nintendo's E3 presser. Miyamoto came out to demonstrate that the game should be played with the Wiimote and nunchuck should act as the sword and controller. The controls are very specialized for the Wii's motion controls, but it still seems to be Zelda. Only now the new controls are being integrated into solving puzzles. For example, a door that was locked had an eye that would follow Link's sword around as he moved it. If he spun the sword in a circle around the eye it would confuse the eye and the door would open.
