Game Review

Some of the elements of White Knight Chronicles come with little surprise. The bad guys are identified all too easily, and the heroes are overmatched, but what they lack in experience and armament, they make up for with gallantry. It does begin innocently enough, though. A young man, Leonard, a player-created character venture off to fetch wine for the 18th birthday celebration of the silent... Read Review

White Knight Chronicles 2 Only for the Devoted

It's not uncommon for developers to reward gamers who beat previous games in the same franchise with a leg up when the sequel comes around. Sometimes the fortunate gamer gets an extra weapon or a stat boost, or in more substantial cases like Mass Effect 2 gamers are allowed to continue a storyline with the same character they used to kicked things off. Level-5, the studio behind the White Knight Chronicles series, is taking things a bit further by requiring players to have a clear data save file before they can even start the sequel. Try and follow the logic after the break. Read More

White Knight Chronicles Comes to NA Feb. 2 as White Knight Chronicles: International Edition

Next year is gearing up to be a huge year for Japanese RPGs, with new installments of the Tales series, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and, of course, Final Fantasy all hitting North American shores next year. But one game Sony would like you to not forget about is White Knight Chronicles, released in Japan late last year. Now, after quite a while, Level 5 has officially announced that the epic RPG is coming our way. White Knight Chronicles: International Edition will be hitting North America on February 2. Why the need for the fancy new subtitle? Because the domestic release will feature 50 unique quests available on disc for play in both single- and multiplayer, and the Georama, where players can build a fully-involved online village to invite their friends into. Also included is the new Live Talk feature, allowing main character Leonard and his companions to have side conversations during battle, and online voice chat, a feature sorely missing from the original Japanese release. Nintendo Reveals First- and Third-Party Holiday Lineup

Nintendo has released the planned publishing schedule as it stands for the Wii and Nintendo DS/DSi, from both themselves and their third-parties. A lot of definite dates are not set in, instead referenced as "Fall," "Holiday," or "November," for example, but nonetheless serves to give us an idea of what the coming months will bring. "This extensive lineup will keep players busy throughout the fall and into 2010," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Shoppers know that Nintendo offers fun for everyone in the household." Nintendo also mentions the upcoming black Wii Remote, Nunchuk, and MotionPlus as being available "this holiday season," though they don't get any more specific than that. PSN Update a Day Late in the US

For the first time ever, a Playstation Store North American Thursday update didn't arrive on Thursday, but was mysteriously delayed to Friday morning. Sony has given no word on the cause, but the amount of content offered in this update may justify the delay for some. Most shocking is the amount of full playable content offered in this update – three PSOne games, four demos, and a PSN game. Usually the North American store is lucky to get a single PSOne game while the Japanese store alternatively usually gets four-to-six PSOne games a week. Those PSOne games are Tomb Raider 2, Cool Boarders 2, and SimCity 2000 – all for $5.99 each. The demos are for the new FEAR 2 campaign called "Reborn," WET, DiRT 2, and NHL 10. The full game is The Legend of Han Tao at $14.99. Read More

The first White Knight Chronicle is currently set to release in the west sometime early in 2010. Read More
