Frank West to Return in Dead Rising 2

With the release of Dead Rising 2 impending, Capcom has begun a full promotional blitz for the game, including a now-typical viral marketing campaign that is oh so vogue with major releases today after Halo 2 made loving bees the norm. While Tape it or Die isn't one of the best we've seen (and it's kind of hard to be taken seriously when it flat-out tells you it's a Dead Rising 2 advertisement) it did just drop a little hint that Chuck Greene may not be the only zombie slayer taking action against the undead hordes. A low-quality image, viewable above, showcases Chuck teaming up with another character in the game. Who could it be? Well, isn't it obvious? He's covered wars, y'know. Read More

Out From The Side Of My Neck Episode 20: Something for Everyone

The Won is back with a pretty quick turnaround for a new episode of Out From the Side of My Neck, and why wouldn't he be? Today marks the release of several of the first big titles of 2010, and there is something for every platform: M.A.G. on the PlayStation 3, Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox 360, and a double-helping of fun on the Wii with No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. So there is plenty to talk about. And naturally, people went camping out in order to be among the first to get their hands on the new title which they covet. The Won decides to see who is in attendance: So, how many of you went out to get your game of choice last night? Or did you get more than one game? Which did you get? Tell us in the comments! Phoenix Wright, Ingrid Likely to Join Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, But Only If...

The topic of characters from Capcom's Ace Attorney series of Nintendo DS (and now WiiWare) games has come up here and there throughout the development cycle of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, and it seems that the idea hasn't died yet. In fact, it seems more likely than ever now that it could happen. That is, provided certain conditions are met. Read More

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom New York Launch Event

Yesterday, I headed to downtown to check out the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars launch event at Nintendo World NYC. The event was supposed to kick off around 11:00am, so I decided to take the initiative and go down there early. I arrived there around ten o'clock, and to my surprise no one was lined up at the door. I walked inside, and no one was on the first floor. However when I tried to get up the stairs, my mind was blown. Hundreds of fans were lined up to face off a "pro" to win a free copy of the game, and that's when I knew this was going to be one hell of a day. Read More

Why the Samurai Pizza Cats Are Not in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom

From the time Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was first announced, there have been characters fans have wanted to see appear and have been disappointed to find were never added. Among them are Speed Racer and the Samurai Pizza Cats, whom many feel would be a perfect fit for the game. And as it turns out, they were not alone: "One of the main anime we got more requests for than any others was Samurai Pizza Cats," revealed Producer Ryota Niitsuma. "There were a lot of people who wanted to see that. I wanted to see that, but we couldn't reach an agreement." Read More

Capcom: 2.5-D for Future Fighting Fun, May Announces New Vs. Title in '10

Fans of Capcom's fighting game franchises received a few interesting tidbits to chew on today, as the company spoke of where we can expect things to go in the future. For starters, the 2.5-D effect used in Street Fighter IV went over so well among the developers that it spilled over into Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. And according to the producer of that game, Ryota Niitsuma, that is the visual style that the company is going to use in all Capcom fighters for the foreseeable future. Read More

UDON Involved in Tatsunoko vs Capcom

UDON Comics announced this week that they will be providing all new artwork throughout the upcoming Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars. UDON will be re-drawing the ending artworks for all 26 of the game's playable characters. This adds another update to this new version of the 2008 fighter. When Ultimate All Stars was announced for Western release in June, several new features were announced with it like online play and several new characters like Zero from Mega Man and Tekkaman Blade (Teknoman to Americans who watched it on UPN). UDON is most recently responsible for providing all the art assets for Super Street Fighter II HD Remix. Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars is set for a January 26th release. Because of the amount of content added to the western release, Ultimate All Stars will also be released in Japan at the same time – 13 months after the original December 2008 release. Read More

16K Sales of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Causes Capcom to Reconsider Wii

Recently, SEGA expressed their belief that Mature-rated titles on the Wii were a gamble which simply did not pay off, thus leading to no such titles planned for the foreseeable future. And having moved only 16,000 copies of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for the same platform over three weeks' time, it appears that Capcom is ready to take a similar stance, instead shifting their focus elsewhere. Looks like the fine folks of Capcom had one more surprise up their sleeves regarding what has become one of the most anticipated fighting games of the year, the anime and gaming mash-up Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. It appears that there's one more character still up Capcom's sleeves: Ai-Chan, better known as Yatterman-02 from Tatsunoko's Yatterman series, as revealed on GameSpot's On the Spot from tonight. Capcom's Seth Killian reveals that Yatterman-02 will be unlockable, but doesn't reveal what it will take to unlock her. Media: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Spotlights Finish With A Mega Blast

Capcom has released the last of their "spotlights" on the different characters from the cast of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. And to wrap things up, we have new art, screens, and videos of Jun The Swan and Ippatsuman versus the Legendary MegaMan Volnutt and Classic Roll. As always, you can find the art (four pics) and screens (twenty!) in our gallery through the link below. But first, two trailers for the characters have been linked back-to-back, courtesy of RMC at GoNintendo: Wow, what a finisher for Roll! Too bad MegaMan got robbed, though. The game is set for its North American release on January 26, 2010, which is still well over a month away... I wonder what else they may have in store to promote it before it comes out? Read More
