Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow Sneaking to PS2 in June

In a surprising move, Sony has announced that 2007's Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, the previous PSP-exclusive and to date the last completely new game in the stealth action franchise, will be ported to the PS2 this June. Sony Bend, the developers of the original, will be handling the port. The PS2 version of Logan's Shadow will feature enhanced Dual Shock controls, using a "snap" button to quickly get into cover, the ability to swing out and aim towards enemies, and all the amenities that come with having a second analog stick. The port will launch this summer, soon after followed by a digital comic hitting the PlayStation Store, which will fill in the gaps between Logan's Shadow and the previous game, Dark Mirror. This is all well and good, but is there really any need to continue to beat the dead horse that is the PS2, especially with a three year-old game? More after the cut. Read More

PSPGo European UMD Rewards Program Detailed

During the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has attempted to answer what has been one of the most pressing questions on the PSPGo – how UMD owners will transfer over their games. Their answer is not quite a "replacement" plan so much as a rebate of some sort. Those who buy a PSPGo while still owning any previous PSP model with UMD discs will at first be able to download three of 17 titles from the Playstation Store of their choice for free. All of the titles are games currently available on the European Playstation Store, which has the least amount of PSP content out of all the regions. No word yet on whether this deal will expand to include more titles. Read More

Now, it looks like a few more originals can be added to the list. The games that have been updated include: Syphon Filter 2, Oddworld: Abe's Exodus, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Um Jammer Lammy. While it hasn't been actually confirmed that these are the next PSone titles to be ported to the PSN, history would lead us to believe that these four titles will be released for your downloading pleasure very soon. PCB Says "Sorry, No Syphon Filter 5 or SOCOM 4 Yet"

Yesterday, PlayStation LifeStyle pointed out that motion capture studio PCB added another game to their Sony resume in the form of SOCOM 4, which followed a report from earlier this year that they had also done motion capture for Syphon Filter 5. And it seems they caught wind of the news spreading about them, and chose to address it. Read More

Rumor: Sony Hard at Work on SOCOM 4

Now that E3 has passed, most know which games to expect through the rest of the year. Usually, it also means that there won't be any big announcements until the industry hyped games have been released. The news has been spotty at best on the SOCOM sequels, but it seems that SOCOM 4 is well under way in the development process. The news stems from PCB Productions, a studio which develops music, dialog, and motion capture. Socom is listed in the credentials as: SOCOM 4 - (motion capture direction) - PLAYSTATION 3 (in development) This isn't the first time that PCB has listed something in development and not officially announced. Syphon Filter 5 was rumored to be completing facial motion capture back in February. The history of both franchises is well known for PlayStation owners and fans of the industry alike. Unfortunately, since these titles were not mentioned at this years E3, it is doubtful any announcements will be coming our way regarding Socom 4 or Syphon Filter 5 any time soon. Read More
