Updated: Original Star Fox Creator on Making Wii Version: "Not Interested"

Update: Thanks to TheWon, we have some further clarification on the story. Look for it at the end of the post. Original Story:The story of Star Fox is a rather interesting one. It blasted onto the 16-bit scene with a Super NES release which utilized 3D polygonal graphics realized by Nintendo's new Super FX chip. The game was a success, and almost beget a sequel, which was scrapped at the last minute in favor of a Nintendo 64 remake, which also proved to be quite popular. Perhaps even moreso than the original. And after that? Things began to quickly fall apart for the Star Fox team. One new game after another would arrive, not necessarily bad in some cases, but not delivering the type of quality Star Fox adventure fans of the first two games were looking for. How Much Will You Be Using the Stylus in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars?

Besides having two screens, one of the biggest innovations brought forth by the Nintendo DS has been using the touchscreen to play video games. In some cases, this has been a blessing, with games such as The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Phoenix Wright, and others making good use of it. In others, it's been a curse that makes one want to stab the stylus right into the eye of whoever thought it would be a good idea to make Star Fox Command stylus-only. Which brings us to the first-ever DS installment of the Grand Theft Auto series, Chinatown Wars: Will it use the stylus sensibly, or forcibly? Read More

Rumor: Star Fox Wii Headed to E3?

Truth be told, "rumor" may be a tad inaccurate; "speculation" is more akin to what this is, based on things that have been said. VideoGamesBlogger considers the following: In 2006, Shigeru Miyamoto had stated in a Famitsu interview that "The Wii controller could be easily used to control the airwing in Star Fox." After which came a comment from Star Fox Command Producer Takaya Imamura, when asked of such a project: "I wonder how the adventure of Fox and friends is going to go next time?! I have come up with some idea in my mind, but it is still just a small one. I will try my best so that I can deliver it to you some time!" And most recently came the news that Nintendo would be announcing several new titles that would appeal to the "core" gamers around E3. Ergo, the conclusion drawn by VGB is that we'll hear about a new Star Fox from Nintendo at E3. In addition, they add that Miyamoto's comments about past Star Fox titles, "consumers got very excited about the idea of those games, but the games themselves did not deliver," leads to a belief that Nintendo may handle the next one in-house. It won't be long before we find out for ourselves. Read More
