Sony's Done a 'Great Job' with PSP, Says Rebellion Founder

Chris Kingsley, Founder and CTO of Rebellion, believes that Sony has done a great job at helping give the PSP success, despite facing heavy competition from the DS. Rebellion has been a strong supporter of the PSP since the beginning, having developed The Simpsons Game, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron and Dead to Rights: Reckoning for the system. So what is it that's kept the company so closely tied to Sony's handheld? "It wasn't a deliberate choice, it just happened," Kingsley explained. We were very keen on it as a platform and it took off for us." Though many companies have stopped developing games for the PSP, Rebellion doesn't plan on following suit just yet. "There's still very good business to be done on the less glamorous platforms," he continued. "Look at PlayStation 2; it's still selling bucket-loads of consoles and bucket-loads of games, though they've got to be the right games for the right platform…but they've done a great job - there are tens of millions of PSPs out there worldwide." Rebellion's busying themselves with ShellShock 2: Blood Trails for the PS3/360 and Rogue Trooper for the Wii for the time being, the latter of which will hopefully find its way to the States.
