ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Confirmed for PS3

And now news that everyone has suspected for some time: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are making a grand return to Sony's consoles. In HD, naturally. These are two of the best games from the PS2's back catalog. They are also frequently held up as ammunition in the interminable "are games art?" debate. Whether or not that is a good thing is up to the individual. There's little denying that two of the best PS2 games getting lovely HD remakes is good news, though. Hit the jump for more. Read More

Read Books, Unlock Stuff with Fable III

Novels based on games are growing in popularity. Ironic, considering many believe books are being left behind in favor of more technologically-advanced forms of entertainment. Like games. With this in mind, publisher Ace Books has collaborated with Lionhead Studios to encourage gamers to actually read a book. How? By offering an unlockable weapon for the latest entry in the series upon which it is based: Fable. Find out more after the jump. Read More

Media: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing - Offscreen Wii Footage, 360 Achievements, Demos, and Shenmue 3

A little bit of new Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing fun today. First up is some offscreen footage of the Wii version of the title from Nintendo World Report (via Sonic Stadium), featuring Billy Hatcher racing through the Seaside Hill Whale Lagoon course: Also via Sonic Stadium is a preview from 2D-X, which makes note of a control scheme which differs from what Mario Kart fans are familiar with. Last Guardian Interview at Playstation Blog

The Playstation Blog today posted new interview they had with the director of the upcoming The Last Guardian. The interview reveals the reasoning behind the game's latest trailer and the director's position on emotion in videogames. The only thing on The Last Guardian seen at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show was a video interview with director Fumito Ueda and a short trailer which showed the player character waking up the companion character as it yawned, scratched itself, and rose to its feet. Ueda told The Playstation Blog that this trailer was meant to show off the character animation, something his studio is well-known for. Read More

PSN Thursday – 8.20.09: Smash Cars, Bloody Roar, and Dick

Personally, I find this week's PlayStation Network update a bit underwhelming. Especially when you consider Wednesday's Xbox Live update included Shadow Complex and a Lost Planet 2 demo. The full version of Smash Cars will be available to download for 15 bucks. Also, Sony continues the trend of steadily releasing PSone games every week. This time we are getting the original Bloody Roar. To be perfectly honest, I had never heard of Bloody Roar until I read today's press release. From what I can tell, it's a pretty standard fighting game that provides you with the ability to turn in to animals…or something. You can check that one out for the usual 10 bucks. In what may be the oddest release of week, new DLC for PAIN will feature Andy Dick as a add-on character. Umm, huh? From the looks of things, Andy Dick's career is past its prime and he's looking for some attention. Oh well. Continue Reading for the sacred Sony text. Read More
