When in mercenary mode, it is easy to waste ammunition. The following is a list of guns and the enemies they are most effective against when playing as Mikhail.
Get the combat knife, kill many monsters, rescue all civilians, and do not use healing items. Then kill every monster with the knife. You should end up with over an hour and some change.
Go to the part of the mercenary mission with two Nemeses and take out your knife. The Nemeses will kill each other, and you will earn 330 seconds.

Once you complete mercenary mode with each character and bought all the weapons you can access the item box, but it only contains a knife.

When using the water control unit in Raccoon Park to drain the fountain, you have to align the gray and black gears. You can meet Carlos at the top floor of the newspaper building instead of the restaurant when you first come out of the area after you fought the first Licker. When you gain control of Carlos, beware of the Aqua Hunters that are in the Artificial Environment tank. When fighting them, keep firing your weapon as much as possible. When they grab you, tap on the buttons as much as you can or they will eat you whole.

You can only create enhanced ammo while playing under the hard difficulty setting. When creating ammo with the reloading tool, save enough gunpowder to mix up the same type of ammo eight times. On the eighth time, the game will prompt "Do you want to create the enhanced ammo?". Select "Yes". This ammo is more powerful, may have slightly different effects, and once loaded into a weapon will change it into an "enhanced weapon". You can only create two types of enhanced ammo: 9mm handgun bullets and shot gun shells. The only different effects the new bullets have is that they are far more powerful.

The only way to see Barry is if ending B is unlocked. To get this ending, jump off the bridge when fighting Nemesis Type B. Successfully complete the game one time to unlock mercenary mode and save the "Next Game" file. Start a new game, choose that saved game, then select mercenary mode. This mode involves controlling Carlos, Mikhal, or Nikoli from the train to the starting room with a two minute timer. Killing the various opponents and rescuing civilians during the journey will add more time to the clock. A rank and money will be awarded after the game is completed. Then, immediately switch them directly with the Grenade Launcher. By doing this, the shells that were originally in the Grenade Launcher were transferred into the box, and the ones in the box are now in the Grenade Launcher, with a number of about 220 to 450. The V-Jolt is something optional that you can create for an easier battle with the Plant 42 in the Residence. The V-Jolt is a formula which can be used to destroy the plant's roots in five seconds. If you do this, Barry will enter the room and use his flamethrower to burn the plant down. To find the place to make the V-Jolt go to the first door on the left after you enter the gallery. You will need a door-code to get into the room. This password can be obtained by completing the billiards puzzle in the other room with the spiders. Before you enter the room, make sure you have at least three to four empty item spaces in your inventory. Once in the room, you will see many bottles, a few large bottles with chemicals, and a sink. On the side of a wall, you will see a poster that reads similar to "1+3=4 4+6=10 6+1=7 10+7=17 17+3=20". "20" is the UMB chemical equivalent to the V-Jolt. "1" is water. Take a bottle and fill it up with water. Then, walk to the side and look for the chemical "UMB 3". Once you find it, get another bottle, fill it up with some UMB 3 and combine it with some water to get UMB 4. Then, find the chemical "Yellow 6". Take some and combine Yellow 6 with UMB 4 to get UMB 10. Next, you must get another bottle and fill it up with water. All Crimson Heads are right handed. If you stay to their left, they will never get you. This saves a lot of time by eliminating the need to always cook Zombie bodies. sam judd.
Instead of shooting a zombie in the foot to make them fall down you can instead stab them in the foot with your knife. Denise Baldwin.
If a head shot is too difficult, try aiming down at the zombie's feet. If you blow off the zombie's leg, it will not be able to return as a Crimson Head and will disappear as soon as you reenter the room. PureMarioExtract.
When on a screen with stairs (no matter how few), lead the zombie towards and onto the steps to avoid being bitten. They will just vomit in your direction instead. If you are not sure if a Zombie is dead, walk up fairly close to it (but not so close that they start chewing your ankles) and simply back up. If the Zombie is alive, the character will do a wary backup move instead of the standard backup done when there is nothing there.
There are two ways to incinerate (burn) Zombies. If you have the lighter (one of Chris's initial items or found by Jill throughout the course of the game), and a fuel tank with some kerosene, you may burn Zombies that you have killed. If the Zombies have already turned into Crimsons (if they are all red or if you have killed them thirty minutes to one hour ago), then you cannot burn them. Another way to incinerate Zombies is to use the Incendiary rounds for the Grenade Launcher (Jill only). If you encounter a Zombie, shoot it with an incendiary round to immediately burn it to a crisp. If you have killed the Zombie by other means and it is already dead, you can still use the incendiary rounds to burn it. ATX-03027911.
Dodging zombies helps conserve your ammunition. This trick requires some practice. When there is a zombie in sight, walk up to him slowly. When you are about two feet away from it, the zombie will lunge at you. When this happens, walk backwards (not turning around; just backing up). To gain the bonus costumes for Jill or Chris faster, you must have two free game save spaces. First, start a file and immediately before you go to the helipad on top of the lab, save the game and complete it. When the game asks if you want to save the game, save it on a different file. The save will read as "Clear". Replay the file you saved before the end of the game and complete it again. Save over the file that reads "Clear". Repeat this step again and save over "Clear" a third time. After that, load the "Clear" file and start a game in once again mode. Find the closet room, and you will be able to use all three costumes. Successfully complete the game as Jill or Chris and save the game. A new background will appear on the main menu. Select the "Once Again" option when playing your completed saved game. You may now choose new difficulty settings for the replay. You will also get a key that will allow the character that completed the game to have a new costume. Enter the room with the large mirror on the second floor of the mansion. Unlock the door in the back. Enter the closet and move all the way to the end of the rack of clothes. A message asking "There is an outfit that fits you perfectly, do you want to put it on?" will appear. Select "Yes" to change your character's clothes. Complete the game again under a different difficulty setting to unlock a second costume. Jill's bonus costumes are a commando uniform and her costume from Resident Evil 3. When the game puts you and Barry in the dining room, wait until Barry sees the blood, then run back to the hall where Wesker is located. Wesker will tell you to " Investigate shots if heard". You will then be put back in the dining room. Try to go back in the hall and Barry will say "Cold feet already Jill? That's not like you.". When you try to walk to Barry, a alternate beginning sequence will appear. Nick Shepherd.
Unlock Jill's third costume (miniskirt). Get in the hall that has the door to the costume closet. Go to the end of the hall to retrieve the dagger, then go back. As always, you will run into one zombie that startles Jill and causes her to fall. However, the view with this costume allows you to see up her skirt. PureMarioExtract.
Get to the alley behind the bar. Walk out into the alleyway until you see stairs. Nemesis will appear with a rocket launcher, but before he can shoot a second Nemesis will shoot at you but will hit the first Nemesis and knock him down.

Look around in the room with the rail gun to find Hunk on the ground by the door you would exit through.
Note: A controller with an auto-fire feature is required for this trick. Turn on the auto-fire, then have Jill walk backwards and press the bvutton to have her turn around. If done correctly, she will spin around on one foot.
Kill Nemesis seven times in your first game and he will drop the assault rifle. Kill him seven times in your second game he will drop an infinite ammo case.
Set the mode to "Manual". Every time you shoot, only three rounds will be used and the total percentage of ammo left will decrease by about 1%. Use the assault rifle like this until you can fire it without wasting large amounts of ammunition when it is set to "Auto".
You can easily blast off the heads of multiple zombies with a shotgun. Get some zombies close together. Aim the shotgun up. Get close to the zombies (but not too close). While the shotgun is aimed up, and you are close, fire. Note: This works well for Mikhail in the mercenaries mode.
Either get $9999 in Mercenary mode and buy unlimited ammunition or use the infinite ammo kit obtained from Nemesis on the Mine Thrower. The Mine Thrower will have tracking bullets which will show the directions to the zombies.
You can meet Carlos at the top floor of the newspaper building instead of the restaurant when you first come out of the area after you fought the first Licker. You will hear Carlos taking out a few zombies. Ignore that and go to Jill's left. Enter the door at that location. You will now be at the alley directly behind the restaurant. From here, make your way to the newspaper office. After meeting Carlos, Nemesis appears. You will get to make a choice to "Jump out the window", or "Hide in the back". Note: To get the green gem, go back to the restaurant and go down the ladder. Then, check the police officer down there. He should have it.
When you gain control of Carlos, beware of the Aqua Hunters that are in the Artificial Environment tank. When fighting them, keep firing your weapon as much as possible. When they grab you, tap on the buttons as much as you can or they will eat you whole.
You actually do not have to fight the Worm the first time you meet him, when you fall into the sewer. After he pops out of the wall the first time, just run to your right and hit the first switch (make sure the worm comes out of the wall). Then, run to the other side of the sewer and hit the second switch (this one may be difficult -- also make sure the worm comes out again). Then, press the button for the ladder and you just saved yourself some life and ammunition.
Use the following trick to defeat the Worm without wasting good ammunition. Walk slightly into the Worm's little section slowly until the screen starts to shake and he appears. Back up to the wall and shoot him with the handgun. If the worm does reach you, which is not very often, Jill will usually dodge to the right. Repeat until it is defeated. To defeat the second Worm, run around for two minutes and try not to take damage. After that time, the light pole will begin to spark. Use the handgun to shoot in the direction of the two sparking poles and they will fall into a puddle. Stand near (not in) the puddle, then wait for the worm to go into the water and fry to death.
Play the game under the hard difficulty setting. Defeat Nemesis for the fourth time and pick up the small silver box that he dropped. It will contain M37 Parts A. Defeat Nemesis a fifth time and get the M37 Parts B. Combine these two parts to get a western custom shotgun with six rounds. This gun uses the standard 12 gauge shotgun shells.
Knock down a Doggie, then aim down and you can fire faster on it. If you do not aim down, you have to wait until the Doggie stands up.
When fighting the Nemesis for the last time in the Rail Gun Room, you will see a figure in the background, similar to Nemesis. Closely observe the creature to see that it is the Humanoid, or the Mutated William Burken from Resident Evil 2. When you press Action, Jill describes it as "One of Umbrella's New Biotech Weapons".
The Nemesis is left-handed and uses that hand to grab you. When fighting him, shoot him two times and run past his right side. Shoot twice and repeat the process. Note: This only works when he does not have his Rocket Launcher and if you are using the handgun.
Knocking him down the first time is worth a 20 second bonus. Knocking him down a second time will cause him to look dead with a pool of blood around him and is worth a 40 second bonus.
This trick requires a large number of health items and first aid sprays. When you fight the Nemesis with the Rocket Launcher, aim up. If he targets you, run and try to make him waste ammunition. After four to seven shots from him, he will reload, but the rocket launcher will turn red and explode.
Whenever you kill Nemesis in Hard Mode, you can always pick up a package that he drops, containing gun parts. Once these are assembled, they form the Eagle 6.0 STI. This gun is more convenient than the standard handgun. Once you get close to a zombie, aim directly at its head and fire. If performed correctly, you will shoot its head off just like what a magnum regularly would, and it only consumes regular handgun bullets.
When in Sub Station, after getting the fuse the game prompts for a live selection. Do not do anything. You will have to kill all the Zombies by yourself. When you get outside, a short intermission sequence will happen. Zombies will attack you, and Nemesis will blow them up with his rocket launcher. However, you are his next target.
Wait for a zombie to get close, then aim up and you will shoot him in the head, killing him with one shot.
If you can walk behind a monster, keep tapping Run quickly. Jill will not make any sound of footsteps and seems to "glide". The monsters cannot hear you and subsequently will not turn around and attack. Note: This works best with the Drain Deimos.
When you first get to the trolley, Carlos will give you a "fanny" pack. After you finish the game, you will keep those additional two slots in the game.
Jump off the bridge. Play until you reach the room with the Radar Tracker. Take it, and try to leave the room using the door you entered. Nicholai will call you. After killing him, Carlos will enter. After talking with him, leave the room (do not use the hatch to the Rail Cannon). Turn around and get in the radar device room again. Carlos and Jill will listen to a radio call from Barry and the game will continue with the final scenes.
You can only create enhanced ammo while playing under the hard difficulty setting. When creating ammo with the reloading tool, save enough gunpowder to mix up the same type of ammo eight times. On the eighth time, the game will prompt "Do you want to create the enhanced ammo?". Select "Yes". This ammo is more powerful, may have slightly different effects, and once loaded into a weapon will change it into an "enhanced weapon". You can only create two types of enhanced ammo: 9mm handgun bullets and shot gun shells. The only different effects the new bullets have is that they are far more powerful.
When you are low on ammunition, go to a nearby storage system and take out A.S. rounds. Combine it with the A.R. and put the rounds back into storage. You will be restored and still have space for more items.
Successfully complete the game under the easy difficulty setting with any rank better than F to unlock Jill's costume from the original Resident Evil and Regina's costume from Dino Crisis. To unlock three additional costumes, successfully complete the game under the hard difficulty setting with a rank of A. This will unlock police miniskirt, disco, and biker costumes.

The Trolley

Jump out the window. Fighting Nemesis Type B on the bridge: Jump off. After the jump off decision, the final area of the game will take a somewhat different path. You will have to fight off Nicholai in a chopper. It is recommended that you bring a Magnum and Grenade Launcher (or Rocket Launcher if it has been found). You can also choose to negotiate with him.
When you enter the room in the clock tower with the three statues holding trays, take the obsidian, crystal, and amber jewels from them. There are three clocks on the wall besides the two dead bodies. Going from left to right, place the amber jewel in the first tray, the obsidian jewel in the middle tray, and the crystal jewel in the third tray. The middle clock will open and you will get a gold gear. Combine it with the silver gear and place it in the slot on the third floor. Information in this section was contributed by KIDROC5674. When you enter the room with the three clocks, walk up to the three statues and take each of the three balls from them. From left to right, set the obsidian, the crystal, and the amber ball in the three clocks. You will get the gold gear. Combine it with the silver gear and you will get the Chronos gear.

The oil additive needed to start the trolley is located in a locked store room inside the sales office. To unlock it, pick up the flashy remote on a desk to turn on a TV. You will see a commercial about some product from Ubrella Corp. Make note of that product (Safsprin, Adravil, Aquacure, etc.). Go to the nearby computer where Carlos just shot his zombied friend. You will be prompted for a password. Type in the name of the product to unlocked the storeroom.

Defeating Final Nemesis

When confronting the final boss, (Nemesis' final transformation) make him retreat into the corner from where he came from by your rocket launcher, and grenades, then you have to get the cannon online by PUSHING IN the three power sources, marked 1,2,3. When that is done, fire the cannon to dispose of the debris, then it will auotmatically fire again, at Nemesis. You then have the choice to finish him off yourself (this is an FMV!) or just running. I recommend you finish him with the FMV, because this unlocks more secrets in the end.
In the mercinaries game, you beat the monsters to get extra time. The BIG monsters give BIG time, as follows. Nemesis (standard) - KO 10 seconds Nemesis (standard) - Kill 20 seconds Nemesis (mutated) - Kill 120 seconds (2 mins!) The only place where I have found the mutant nemesis, is in the car park area outside the garage. It takes 5 rocket launcher shell as a minimum!!! On the area where there are alot of Zombies (the y-shaped alley) shoot the 1st zombie cop as you come through the door, then, peg it down the alley to lure the zombies to you. when they are quite close, press R Trigger (make sure you are 2 screens from the RED BARREL) and shoot. You can get a maximum of a 90 second bonus. COOL! To get a better grade, and some extra ammo, rescue the people who are trapped in the mercinaries game. Try looking in the garage, the press office, the sub station, the medical store place (with the safsprin door!) and some other key places in the game.

To unlock "The Mercenaries" mini-game, complete the game at any difficulty. The object of the mini-game is to get from the Trolley to the starting point in Uptown within a limited amount of time. Additional time is awarded for killing monsters (and rescuing) people along the way.

Infinite Money Trick

Use this method to get all the infinite-ammo weapons and infinite weapons pack. In the mercinary mode go to the area with the dumpster and the hop skotch paintings (the one right behind the bar.) Go up the steps and take a right. You will then go north until you get to the fork. Go through the door and you will be in the deadend alley that is boarded up by red and white boards. This can be done with all 3 mecinaries. There are three dogs here. First kill 2 dogs immediately. Then lure the remaining dog to where the boards are stacked up. Climb up onto the boards. Go to the opposite end and watch as the dog makes attempts to jump at you. Take a small step forward and press R Trigger right before he jumps. Your character will jump backwards and get a dodge bonus. Immediately after the character dodges, press R Trigger again to pick up a combo for your dodge bonus. Repeat this process to rack up tons of money and time. It takes time, but it is sure worth it.

General Nemesis Tips

If you take on Nemesis the best strategy is to run by his right side. He is a lefty so he will always try to grab or pummel you into submision with his left hand. Once you're a little ways behind him (make sure it's not too far otherwise he will run at you, then your in trouble) Take a shot and run by him again. Keep doing this until he falls over. He will get back up so continue until you see the purple blood from his body. If your playing HARD mode make sure you pick up the item.

I immediately stopped Chris, but when he saw me he just gave me a wink and walked away. I wonder what happened to him... August 15th Midnight. Chris, who has been on a leave of absence for a "vacation," called me so I visited his apartment. As soon as I walked into his room, he showed me a couple of pieces of paper. They were part of a virus research report entitled as simply as "G". Then Chris told me that, "The nightmare still continues." He went on to say that, "It's not over yet." Ever since that day, he has been fighting all by himself without rest, without even telling me... August 24th Chris left the town today to go to Europe. Barry told me that he would send his family to Canada and then he would follow Chris. I decided to remain in Raccoon City for a while because I know that the research facility in this city will be very important to this entire case. In a month or so, I'll be joining with them somewhere in Europe. That's when my real battle begins...

Grenade Launcher

In The Policestation If you go into the save room before you go to the police station and mix the A and B gunpowder on the shelf to make C and then mix it with the gunpowder A that you got at the warehouse and then combine it with your reloading tool to make grenade flame rounds you will always get the grenade launcher in the S.T.A.R.S. room.
To get the combination to the medical locker in the hospital, go to the room next to that room. Check the dead body in the corner to find one of the following combinations: "513", "101", "498", or "517".
Use the S.T.A.R.S Card in the computer in the main entrance of the Police Station. When you get the S.T.A.R.S Emblem Key, go to the S.T.A.R.S Office. When you are in the office, go to the big locker next to the out-of-commission message receiver. Open the locker and you will get a Grenade Launcher. Some people may find the Magnum in the big locker. In this situation, the Grenade Launcher may be found in the Sub-Station. There are two different ways to get the Grenade launcher. There is one in the Sub-Station when the game is first played. The other is available after the game has been completed once. Go to the S.T.A.R.S. office and go were the Magnum gun was originally obtained.
In the dead factory, go to the machine next to the water sampler puzzle. Use the facility key where that game states a small plastic card can be inserted. Take the other facility key that is given and go to the steaming room where the small card activated elevator is located .Go down and use the facility key on the door where that game states a small plastic card can be inserted. You will find a rocket launcher with four shots at this location.
You can save ammunition when fighting zombies by waiting until they are right in front of you. Then, aim upward and shoot. If done correctly, your shot will blow their head off, even with a handgun. In some rooms there are barrels or red small boxes on the wall. Wait until the monsters in that room are next to those objects before shooting the barrels or boxes to blow them all to pieces. When fighting spiders, shoot them when they are on the wall or ceiling to drop them to the floor. Then, run behind them and then start shooting. The best way to get past brainsuckers is to just run past them. When fighting the dogs, just shoot them. When they jump at you, dodge them by pressing X When fighting hunters, shoot them, and when they jump, run under them. When fighting Nemisis, start shooting him and when he tries to grab you, run. One of the codes for the music box in the top or the tower is Down, Up, Up, Down, Down, Up.
Successfully complete the game one time to unlock mercenary mode and save the "Next Game" file. Start a new game, choose that saved game, then select mercenary mode. This mode involves controlling Carlos, Mikhal, or Nikoli from the train to the starting room with a two minute timer. Killing the various opponents and rescuing civilians during the journey will add more time to the clock. A rank and money will be awarded after the game is completed. The money can be used to purchase better weapons for the next mercenary mode game.

Go directly to the Evidence Room in the Police Station. Go to the number-based lock with the S.T.A.R.S Emblem Key. Use one of the following three passwords: "0131", "4011", or "4312". You will receive the Emblem Key. Go to the locker in the S.T.A.R.S Office. Open the locker to get a Magnum.
When you enter the room in the clock tower with the three statues holding trays, take the obsidian, crystal, and amber jewels from them. There are three clocks on the wall besides the two dead bodies. Going from left to right, place the amber jewel in the first tray, the obsidian jewel in the middle tray, and the crystal jewel in the third tray. The middle clock will open and you will get a gold gear. Combine it with the silver gear and place it in the slot on the third floor.
When entering the Police Station and going into the door in the top left corner you will reach a room with zombies. After killing them, enter the next room, which contains the lockers. Once there, go to the other side to find a locker with a light on it. The game will prompt for a code. The code is "0131", "0513", "4312", or "0114". Capcom made Resident Evil 3 hard to cheat by making the combinations for the lockers and locations of items in different numbers and locations. Do things differently in each game and you will get a different game each time it is played.

Costume Change

Complete the game with Jill in under three hours and you begin the game from a new save point with a rocket launcher and infinate ammo in your posession.

Special Key

Try the following Run through all the zombies and try not to get bitten. Go to the police station and pick up the most ammo you can find then go outside, go down the steps and there will be an unusual zombie that is there. It will take 20 to 30 shots to kill him. When you kill him he will have a special key that key will open the locker in the dark room near the steps to the second floor.

Battle Mode

Save the game at least one time. Hold X + Y + Z + Start on controller two at the title screen. The words "Resident Evil" will be spoken to confirm correct code entry. Press Start on controller one.
