Sony Announces PixelJunk Shooter 2 for PSN

Developer Q-Games has created quite a nice little following for it on the PlayStation Network, thanks to the uniquely offbeat and artistic PixelJunk series. Kicking off with PixelJunk Racers, and leading to the critically acclaimed Monsters and Eden the series's simple visuals and addictive gameplay took a turn for the old school with 2009's PixelJunk Shooter, the developer's take on side-scrolling shoot-em-ups. Now, Q-Games has officially announced a sequel, PixelJunk Shooter 2, which Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert promises will be bigger and better than before. PixelJunk Shooter, SOCOM PSP Demos on Japan PS Store

This week's Playstation Store update includes demos for PixelJunk Shooter and SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 – in Japan only. Both demos are completely in English save their titles. Getting the PixelJunk Shooter Demo on an American PS3 only requires a Japanese Playstaiton Network account. Playing the SOCOM demo on an American PSP is slightly more complicated. A PS3 with a Japanese PSN account is required for the SOCOM demo. On the Japanese store it's listed as SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Portable – that's just the official Japanese name for Fireteam Bravo 3. The demo must also be installed and transferred to the PSP through the Japanese account. After that however it should be playable on a PSP with a North American account. Read More

Final Fantasy VIII is #1 in December PSN Sales

Just because Final Fantasy XIII is still a month and a half away doesn't mean Square Enix's flagship series ain't already enjoying success. After hitting the North American PlayStation Store on December 17, Final Fantasy VIII (that's "8," don't let the three I's throw you for a loop) quickly became the most popular game on the scene. Patrick Seybold, Senior Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media for SCEA, said that this past December saw the highest revenue month to date for PSN, a 155% increase from one year ago.
