  World War II has been the subject of many video games over the years. And well it should; it was a particularly rich and interesting time in history, with plenty of ready-made epic stories to tell. Nowadays, the description "World War II game" is typically associated with the first-person shooter genre. But it wasn't always that way. Back in the 90s, gamers reliving this period usually did so from the cockpit of an aircraft. Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising (Red Sun Rising) marks the return of this oft-neglected genre of gaming: the historical flight game. Placing players in the role of an anonymous pilot for either the US or Japanese air force, Red Sun Rising attempts to simulate the air war over the Pacific, starting with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
