Rumor: MAG Blasting Away 2009 Release Date

Rumor: MAG Blasting Away 2009 Release Date

So it seems MAG may fall victim to the trend that has claimed Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3, the title may not release before the end of 2009. The huge online experience was toted at E3 to be one of the next big things this holiday season, but online retailers cannot agree on which date MAG will be released. GameFly and Gamestop both have it listed as releasing in January of 2010, where as Best Buy has it listed for October 27th, 2009. Even though Sony said at E3 that MAG would release in the fiscal year of 2009 (which ends in March), it was assumed it would be out sometime before the holidays and after the Fall. The PlayStation website isn't any help either, as it doesn't list a release date for MAG. Sadly, the forecast of games this Fall and holiday season are starting to dwindle. Some upsides to the potential delay could be shorter lines at the shops and a very polished game to play come January (I know, I'm digging deep). Read More

Take Two: Max Payne 3 Development is Go

Take Two: Max Payne 3 Development is Go

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was a bloody brilliant game, and anybody who didn't pick up a copy should drive their browsers to right this second and get to bidding. Back? Ah good - for the actual newsreel, then. Sources close to Take-Two have established that another installment in the popular shoot-em-up series is being developed. Just where development is taking place isn't yet known, with developer Remedy taking their dearly sweet time on Alan Wake, and all. As GameSpot notes, the project was mentioned during an earnings call last September: "In addition to Grand Theft Auto, our roster of million-plus-selling, wholly-owned brands includes BioShock, Civilization, Midnight Club, Max Payne, Red Dead Revolver, Manhunt and Bully," noted CEO Ben Feder. "We fully intend to leverage these products, which are on development cycles that should complement and counterbalance each other." Many outlets are claiming that 2009 will be the big year for Payne fans, but there's not a thing official about that just yet. There's that movie coming out starring heartthrob Mark Wahlberg, too. A timing coincidence? Maybe, but we doubt it, since the flick's been trying to get off the ground since 2003. We'll have our ears perked for new info, so stay tuned. Read More
