Time Ticks Down on Nintendo's Free DSi Points Offer

Thinking back to earlier this year, prior to the launch of the Nintendo DSi, one of the incentives given for people to adopt the new piece of hardware into their homes and pockets was the promise of 1,000 free DSi Points for the DSi Shop when you take the system online. Well, the time is drawing near for the deal to come to a close, as Nintendo has been kind enough to remind everyone. October 5th will be the final day a new DSi owner can connect the handheld to the internet and receive their free points, as of 11:59pm PST that day. Nintendo notes that the points do not expire, so once you have them in your possession, you can hang on to them for as long as you wish. Hit the jump for the press release, along with a few suggestions from Nintendo as to how you can spend your DSi Points. Edit: Nintendo dropped us a line, informing us that the promotion actually runs about twelve hours longer than the statement indicated. The change has been reflected in the article and press release. Nintendo Download - 6.8.09: Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! and More

I have no idea what's going on at Nintendo today, as their press page seems completely lacking in this week's Nintendo Download update. Thank goodness for PR e-mail, at least. The big news this week goes to DSi owners, as Nintendo has released the third Mario vs. Donkey Kong game exclusively to DSiWare, just as they prophesized last week. 800 DSi Points is the cost for this E-rated toy box. WiiWare gets a double-dose of games, as Swords & Soldiers is released for 1,000 Wii Points, and Fish'em All! goes for 800. Finally, there's Virtual Console. I heard that Japan got Super Mario Kart this week, but not us! You'll just have to make do with Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf on the Super NES, and its price is the expected 800 Wii Points. For further details, read the full press release after the cut. Read More
