Astral Finish: Tournament Newbie Chronicles

I really don't know what I was thinking. Maybe it was watching the streams of EVO this summer, maybe it was reading one too many forum articles on strategy, or maybe it was the ease in which I managed to whomp Arcade Mode on Hell difficulty...but whatever the reason, I decided it would be a brilliant idea to register and compete in a regional BlazBlue: Continuum Shift tournament.... Red Dead Redemption: Legends and Killers DLC Review

Tomahawks, tomahawks, tomahawks.  Booting up the new Red Dead DLC pointed me directly in the direction of stereotypical Native American weaponry.  The Tomahawk is the only weapon included in the Legends and Killers pack. Getting it isn't as simple as downloading the content and booting up.  Players must head to the Manzanita Post in Tall Trees and buy their chuckable axes there.  They sell for $10 a piece, which is huge scratch for those that didn't spend time finding treasure or looting the innocent, and players can only buy them from that specific store. It is entirely possible that fallen enemies stashed axes in their special, hideaway places, I was just never lucky enough to find them.  So, every time I wanted more axes in order to complete the set of challenges that came with the new weapon, I had to head back to the Manzanita post and shell out more dough.  On one hand this could be considered an excellent well for frustration, but the developers and die-hards might point towards it as an evil way to extend the life of the single player value within this DLC. More after the break... Read More

Nintendo Download - 12/07/09 - Classic Rayman and Street Fighter Games Lead a Luminous December Line

Nintendo is making December a pretty good month to remember in terms of Nintendo Download updates. Is it a holiday thing, or will it continue into the New Year? Only time will tell, but for now, let's just enjoy. No sign of the promised Blaster Master, Pilotwings, of Super Smash Bros., but the month is still young. Even so, today's updates are nothing to sneeze at, with the original Rayman on DSiWare for 800 DSi Points. Joining it are Ball Fighter and Pop Island for 500 each, while ARMY DEFENDER and myNotebook: Red only ask for 200 each. WiiWare is highlighted by the 800 point Stop Stress: A Day of Fury; can't attest to the quality yet, but a name such as that certainly sounds promising. It is joined by My Dolphin and MAGNETIS for 500 Wii Points each, as well as Flowerworks, which demands a whopping 1,000 Wii Points. Finally, we get to Virtual Console, which is bringing two hits. The first is the Super NES version of Street Fighter Alpha 2, a game which pushed the console to its limits back in the day, and the other is the original Shinobi for the SEGA Genesis. Both games command 800 Wii Points. "7" seems to be a lucky number, as this is a fine selection. For more information on each title, check out the press release after the cut. Read More
