Where Have All the Hardcore Gamers Gone?

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said the disparity between hardcore and casual gamers on the Nintendo Wii is even further apart than what he had previously thought. Where he once believed that the audience was split 50/50, Pachter now said — in a detailed post on consumer Web forum NeoGAF — that the split appears to be more like 25 percent hardcore to 75 percent casual. Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Lips Music Stores Added to Xbox Live

The Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero war rages on, but now, those who want to buy DLC for the games have a fancier way to do so! Microsoft has today launched specific music download stores for both games, as well as the company's own Karaoke title Lips. Each creates a fancy GUI where fans can download their favorite songs, track packs, and full albums, right down to checking out previews. Basically, think Halo Waypoint, without the whole Halo thing. Guitar Hero's will work with 5, World Tour, as well as Band Hero, while Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Lego: Rock Band, and The Beatles: Rock Band are all supported by the Rock Band version.
