Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Setlist Revealed

Ready to rock? Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock certainly is. Activision released the full list of tracks available on the disc today. Featuring "more than" 90 tracks (93, fact fans), the game is, as many people have said, a return to form for the series. "We engaged our fans to find out what they really wanted and then hand-picked over 90 tracks that deliver the ultimate rock experience," said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Guitar Hero and holder of the Longest Job Title in the World. "From the new guitar controller to the gameplay to the on-disc set list, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is truly a return to rock." Full details of the setlist after the jump. Read More

GameStop's Black Friday Video Game Deals Revealed

The dreaded date of Black Friday on November 27th, 2009 draws ever closer. And while Kmart's gamer deals did little to excite, perhaps GameStop's offerings will do a little more for you. GameStop, Walmart Offering Half-Off Savings on Rock Band and Guitar Hero

If you've been holding out on getting a bundle package for Rock Band, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Guitar Hero III, or even Guitar Hero II or the GH Aerosmith Kramer, now is your time to act. From GameStop: During our annual spring cleaning, one of our associates came across a forgotten chamber in the warehouse. He found a cache of leftover Rock Band and Guitar Hero games. These are all new games, but the ravages of time and being entombed in the depths of our warehouse have left some of the boxes in less-than-mint condition. So, although the outsides may be a little worn – just like some of your favorite musicians - the games and products themselves are still in perfect shape. Our discovery translates to huge savings for you plus you'll get FREE 3-Day Ground shipping to the continental US – just add to your cart and choose USA Ground as your shipping method during checkout. Online offer only. Act fast, as supplies are limited, and some items are already sold out. According to GameDaily, the phenomenon is not unique to GameStop, as they report seeing similar cuts at Walmart, and now wonder if this is the second indication of music game sales going south, or if they're just clearing room for the next batch. Preorder Guitar Hero: Metallica, Snag Free Stuff

Guitar Hero: Metallica is the second in what will surely be a long line of band focused Guitar Hero cash-ins. How about free accessories for pre-orders of the game. What is coming free with your purchase? Hit the jump to find out. Read More

Activision's Lack of Flexibility May Have Cost Them Beatles Gig

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has made it well known in the past how he feels about who should be paying who and how much where music games such as Guitar Hero are concerned. And while that may work for small fries such as Frozen Magma or whatever, it would seem to have cost Activision their shot at some of that Beatles rub that MTV is enjoying.None involved would discuss the specific terms of the deal, but sources hinted that MTV showed more flexibility than Activision, whose CEO, Bobby Kotick, has said that the music industry should be paying for the opportunity to have music included in "Guitar Hero." "It was presented as if they were doing the music business a favor," Sony/ATV CEO Martin Bandier said. "It's true you can choose other types of music, and somewhere along the line someone's going to do it for free for the exposure ... When it comes to the Beatles, the leverage changes. We're very happy with the terms of our arrangement with MTV." -- ReutersIt seems the line drawn in the sand between Guitar Hero and Rock Band is becoming more well defined as time moves on. While the former is scoring with bands like Aerosmith and Metallica, one is left to wonder how MTV Games will best make use of their new golden goose egg. Read More

Neversoft: We Made Guitar Hero III Too Hard

Has anybody played Guitar Hero III and thought that the game's difficulty was a little too much for him or her to handle? Well, Neversoft developer Brian Bright thinks you may have had a point, according to his recent interview with ButtonMasher. "I agree, we made GH3 too hard." -- Brian Bright to ButtonMasher Care to elaborate, Brian? Yeah, it was too [expletive] hard. We made a conscious effort of GH Aerosmith and GH4 to kind of ramp the difficulty better. In GH3 you definitely hit a wall near the last tier on hard to expert. Bright went on to say that the Neversoft team has tried to make sure the same difficulty issues don't occur again in the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour. This just goes to show, I guess, that there's a fine line between maintaining the accuracy of a note chart and overcharting a song. As a Rock Band drummer myself, I've never been good enough at playing fake guitar to see if Guitar Hero III was too difficult for its own good. What about all you guitar heroes out there? Did Guitar Hero III have a harder difficulty than necessary? Let us know in the comments. Read More
