Nintendo Download - 9.7.09: From Faraway Galaxies to the Family Room, Start Fall on a Fun-Filled Foo

Just as announced last week, today's Nintendo Download sees the release of the newest chapter of Konami's longstanding run-n-gun series, Contra ReBirth. It's 1,000 Wii Points for E10+ action, and I think I've said just about everything I can about it already without having played it (that part comes tonight). But that's not the only thing of merit for download this week; the Virtual Console continues rolling out fun from a galaxy far, far away with Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi on the Super NES (of course). Rounding things out are the 700-point ColorZ for WiiWare, with DSiWare getting a miniature version of the DS's Clubhouse Games for 500 points. Find out more about each title in the press release after the cut. Read More

Nintendo Download - 6.15.09: Mario Calculates the Time Needed to Catch Toasted Rainbows in Space

If you own a Wii, I hope you're ready for action! Adventure! Suspense! Drama! Romance! And more! If you own a DSi, then I hope you're ready for... numbers! Yeah, this week, there seems to be a slight disparity between the downloads available for WiiWare and the Virtual Console, and those for DSiWare. WiiWare gets Eduardo, the Samurai Toaster, RAINBOW ISLANDS: TOWERING ADVENTURE!, and Let's Catch, two 800 Wii Point and one 1,000 Wii Point game, respectively. And over on Virtual Console, the VC Arcade gets a new addition in the form of SEGA's Space Harrier. But on the DSi? You get your choice of a Mario Calculator, and a Mario Clock. Rendered in the style of the original NES classic, there is no doubt that these are quite a nice clock and calculator, but don't do much to keep the momentum rolling after Mario vs. DK last week. Perhaps they're taking turns between the Wii and DSi? Anyway, full descriptions follow after the cut. Read More

Media: Metal Gear Online "SCENE" Expansion Pack Screens and Info

It's a scientific fact that ninjas make everything better (look it up). However, what about when that ninja is Metal Gear Solid's Raiden? Ah, now there's a debate that could keep philosophers busy for decades. In any event, that's what you get when you download the latest Metal Gear Online expansion pack, plus another character in Vamp and three new maps. And if you pre-order the expansion one week before its launch, you'll also get a special free gift in the form of the "hilarious cardboard man" headgear. I've never seen it in action, so I'll take their word for it. The pack will be available in March, with a sneak-peek trailer coming February 26th. Read on for the press release's further details, then check out the new screens in our gallery. Read More

Sunsoft Rises as a New Day Dawns

It appears that the Wii is not only a console for old, classic games (via the Virtual Console), but a place for old, classic companies like Sunsoft as well (also via the Virtual Console). Read More
