Sony's E3 Press Conference Confirmed for June 15

Earlier today, Sony sent out a "save the date" email confirming its E3 Press Conference for June 15 at 11:30 am PST. They also announced that the presser will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown LA. Microsoft has already scheduled its press conference for June 14, a day after its Natal-only event, and Nintendo has yet to confirm the date of its press conference, which has traditionally been held the same day as Sony's. At this point, that's about it in terms of confirmed information, but surely more will be revealed in the coming weeks. Some things will be officially revealed, and in true Sony spirit, some (possibly major) announcements will probably be leaked. For now though, let's speculate. Hit the break for some speculation on what Sony might showcase at this year's E3. Read More

EA Plans More Aggressive Marketing for Dragon Age & Brütal Legend, Teams Latter with Dethklok & Mast

Last year, Electronic Arts brought to the table two very strong contenders for the holiday sales rush of video games, Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. However, neither performed to the expectations held by the company for fiscal '09. At their fiscal first-quarter conference, EA noted that the two titles didn't do as well because they "managed to put these [games] right on top of some very strong competitive launches." Furthermore, they were reportedly "less than pleased" with the marketing execution. And that's one amateur-hour mistake which they vow will not be repeated. Read More

The Who, What, and When of Nintendo's E3 Press Conference

Nintendo has offered a rather concise e-mail which alerts us to what we should all expect to see at their press conference prior to this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, which will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd, from 9-10am Pacific Time. Those of you, like me, who are on the East Coast? You can sleep 'til Noon. And even then, I bet there will be so many people packing the place that you'll have some time to spare before they're ready. Read More

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity-Jig

In other Home news, next week will herald significant updates to the Home beta, inching the version number up to 0.8.3. PS3 Fanboy reports that the news comes off of the PlayStation official site's forums, so it's believed to be legit. So far, there have been UI improvements, as well as those to the graphic engine, making the game more functional and nicer to look at, too. A friends list informs you who's online and who's on Home, and a new bubble machine is available to beta testers, which allows for testing of the new "Home Items" system. Video streaming is go, so no more waiting for downloads to finish. In the Main Square, the Marketplace has been unveiled, stocked with clothes, furniture, and the allure of other undisclosed secrets. Game launching is available in a limited capacity; games can be started within Home, but the other players won't be generated automatically within the game, nor will players with different versions of a game (i.e. American and European) won't be able to start a game together. However, the patch notes that this is only temporary, and will be corrected ny launch. Good to know. Complete details on the above changes can be found after the jump. Read More
