Rumor: Obsidian-Developed Aliens RPG Canceled

It looks like games in 2009 are going to feel just a little less Alien.

Okay, that was bad, and it doesn’t get any better from here if you’re a fan of the Aliens franchise, and were looking forward to the third-person action RPG Obsidian had been making for SEGA.

One of the company’s ex-employees updated his resume on professional networking site Linkedin, and it seems to fall in line with other rumors that the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC game had been canceled.

The exact wording from David Kondor’s page is “Designer for canceled third-person action Aliens RPG (Xbox 360, PS3, & PC),” in case anyone was wondering.

At the same time, there has been no official word of the game being dropped, and the game even remains on the company’s official site. Searching their forums for an answer yields nothing better, save for a statement:

“I hope you guys understand that we really can’t say anything. You guys are our community and I think you deserve some kind of comment, but unfortunately that comment is ‘no comment.'”

Well, at least there should still be Colonial Marines to look forward to, right?
