Helghast (US & EU Only) In story mode, once Colin joined the party, go back to the stageroom and beat him. (He can also be used as an Umpire)
Suzuki ( Playable and Umpire ) After beating Sam in her company go back there and fight Suzuki to get him.
Unlock Gloria (JP) In story mode, after the second ending, go back to the volcano site and select to play as Suzuki before you enter the last room. Gloria will be inside
Unlock Norma (JP) In story mode, after the first ending, go to the volcano site and beat every player until the final door. Play as Emi to enter, then beat Norma.
Unlock Suzuki (JP) In story mode, once Schneider joined the party, come back to his stage then talk to Suzuki. He will challenge you, so beat him to unlock him.
Unlock Yakkun (JP) In story mode, once Brad joined the party, come back to his stage and talk to Yakkun. He will challenge you, so beat him to unlock him.

In exhibition mode, beat the CPU at God difficulty level. SP items must be unlocked one by one for each character.

In exhibtion mode, beat the CPU at hard difficulty level a few times (the number is randomly set between 1 and 10). God Difficulty Level must be unlocked one by one for each character, in singles and doubles.

Play against the same computer player and give up three times in a row. There will be a message saying that easy mode has been unlock. You can choose to activate or deactivate it in the options menu.

Secret Character - Mizuki

Sometimes while playing as Mizuho, it will automatically switch to her twin sister (Mizuki). Mizuki has a completely different personality from Mizuho - it is sometimes interpreted as Mizuho having a split personality. That is not the case, she just has an alternate hidden character.

Easy Loyalty

To gain easy loyalty with your characters, simply go to Challenge mode and find a VS match to play. Once you start, hit Start and choose the Give Up option. Do this three times and you will lose the match. There is no downside to this, but your loyalty with that character will go up.

Free Power Shots

This trick allows you to get a free power shot: when doing a power shot, set the power and impact as you normally would, but the moment the club hits the ball (after setting the shot impact), press triangle. If this is timed perfectly, the power shot you are using won't decrease the number of power shots remaining. This does not affect the shot at all, and it doesn't have any negative consequences if done incorrectly. This must be used during a power shot or it won't work.
